Given none of these products rumoured for Spring are new - just spec bumps (Cheap iPad / iPad Air / iPhone SE / Mac mini 'pro') I don't see any reason for a keynote - all of these can just be press releases. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't think there will be a Spring event.

New Base iPad - interesting. That’s not something I expected. iPad Air 5 is a pretty safe bet
Look at the wording it says a new entry level iPad…

Now that could mean a few things…

All of these are entry level iPads…

The current entry level iPad
A mini entry level iPad
A mini iPad Pro
11” iPad Pro (is an entry level pro device)

We could even see two iPad Airs, one with the basic LCD panel and one with OLED… who knows at this point, but I do think it’s EXTREMELY unlikely they will refresh what is currently the entry level iPad IMO…

Has anyone released a polycarbonate case that mimics the Bondi Blue iMac? As thin as the iPads are now, even having the case be a little thicker to capture some of the depth of texture would still look cool and be comfortable to hold.
I'm not sure, but Spigen made a nice homage for the iPhone X: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen-Cla...logy-Protection-Bondi-Blue/dp/B079THLWPZ?th=1

An iPad case based on the iMac DV/SE would be nice (given the refined looks to its coloured plastics & clear vents).

It is hard to excited over new iPads anymore, even the Pro models. If Apple would ever transform iPadOS into a powerful, computer-like OS with a "real" File system, then I would get excited. But seriously, paying $1,000+ for what is essentially a small portable media player, no matter how good the screen looks, just isn't what would interest me. For that price I want a powerful tool to use, not just a media player and social media platform.

The new entry level iPad will most likely be the exact same just with 5G!!!! This looks like another event spending half of it talking about 5G, and how great 5G is and that 5G is so much faster, and why we should have 5G on everything, oh and don’t forget 5G is now on the entry level iPad ?

Call me naive, but I’m actually optimistic that we’ll see more this year. With Universal control coming there’s a lot of things I could see happening.

for example dragging files onto the Home Screen instead of the files app eventually which could mean more freedom in setting up the home screen. Maybe they can introduce more floating windows,…

They should just drop one product everyday from Monday to Thursday via press release.

Personally I am not in the market for one as the 2020 iPadPro with the most recent iOS does not provide a good enough reason to “upgrade”. Until iOS for the Pro gets more capable it’s pointless to keep updating the hardware.
For me is not the os holding the pro, but the lack of pro apps.

Luma fusion and affinity shows you can do pro apps, but other devs are not developing for iPad!

Well, this confirms all of those devices are getting 5G radios.

Otherwise, there would be no need to import those devices into India for testing.

What was reported were the products imported into India. It could very well be there will be other products that will be shipped to India at a later date. One could easily see a new MacBook Air coming at this event that will be available in India at a slightly later date.

TSMC hasn't even started volume production of N4, so no chance of MacBook Air. Also, Apple wouldn't paper launch MacBook Air without inventory. It just forces them to Osborne the existing Air early for no good reason.

I totally agree.

There are also just too many unnecessary SKUs with a lot of overlap..

Meanwhile, the vast majority of iPad users I know or see using them are doing things easily handled by a 4 year old base model (myself included - internet and media consumption machine)

The entire line should be rethought and consolidated (won’t happen)

I had mentioned before that they should merge the iPad Air and the 11 inch iPad Pro since they are so close in specs and price and that turned out to be a very unpopular opinion.

That’s true for any computing device, though. Most folks are doing things on their Mac (or their non-Mac) that could easily be handled by a 4 year old iPad. I’m NOT saying that there aren’t people out there using their Macs to do complex things that iPads can’t do. There most definitely are. I’m saying that your average person, which is the majority of folks buying Macs, are not really stressing the systems they own in any real way. They just want a Mac or an iPad and Apple makes it easy to walk in and buy a new MacBook or iPad Air, powerful systems compared to those from 4 years ago… which will primarily be used for organizing photos and surfing the web.

I’m confused as to what a new entry level iPad would be, we just got one in September. Maybe A14? Maybe A13 and a 10.5” display?

The 2019 iPad Air chassis will probably be rebranded as the new 10th Gen with a 10.5” display and possibly updated CPU. I would be surprised if a flash was added to the rear and stereo speakers in landscape orientation.
I literally bought my wife the new entry level iPad last week... I guess I should return it amd wait?

Specs and price only tell a part of the story though and that’s been true for a lot of Apple’s history. The original Bondi iMacs weren’t impressively spec’d compared to the PC’s of the day, but they were BLUE! People who had no preference one way or the other on the OS got an iMac because it was blue.

So, thinking strictly from a “specs and price” perspective, good call! But, as long as the Air is offered in colors and the iPad Pro is not, that’s enough of a difference for the folks that are actually in the market for an iPad. And, actually, it probably helps drive folks not as focused on specs to get the lower cost devices JUST to have it in their favorite color.
