Maybe Apple will finally put the front facing camera system from the iPad Pro to the Macs.
Uuh, my iMac Pro has a 1080 webcam in it.
Nevertheless, it's about freaking time they add it to the MacBook Pro
Fabulous! Now all of you will be able to see the sticky side of that piece of blue masking tape in much finer detail!
Not really a hard guess given that it will have a flatter design which also means thicker lid.
Normally I'm not a fan of making something thicker and heavier like a lot of people on here, but I actually dislike how thin the lids are currently. They feel very flimsy.

Some Windows laptops' have had 1080p for years, so perhaps Apple visited 'Craigslist and found this out.
when the webcam of my 2009 samsung laptop has a higher resolution than a 2021 macbook.... xD
I’m on this band side.
Having looked at max tech’s laptop comparisons between many 1080p enabled laptops and the Air’s/Pro’s 720p ones still coming visibly ahead (with the mic capture quality above and beyond too) makes me care less about that number. And also that the feed will be a small square on some side of the corner of the screen next to other little squares part of the zoom call grid.
I have even watched movies that didn’t realize were 720p until later on, because of a graph or something unusually sharp was shown. With a healthy bitrate compression that is, which I find as important as the resolution (i.e a 1080p with a 1mbps data rate will look like garbage).

While I like improved front-facing cameras, I only like them if they are enclosed within a notch. I am really disappointed that there is no notch on the upcoming new MacBook Pros.

I’d pay good money for a Pro model that includes a much better camera with that center stage (or whatever it’s called) feature from the new iPads
Probably because it’s more expensive to find 720p webcams at this point.
They need more than 1 external monitor and more than 16GB of RAM or those will be DOA
This news (if true) will be welcomed news for those who make use of Zoom and other type Software for conference.
I'm all for this but (at least in Zoom) the video is so compressed that it doesn't much matter. In Zoom at our house the user looks about the same on a 2020 iMac (1080) as he/she does on the 2018 model (780).

Why does anyone need a good web cam for zoom and teams it’s not like your in a meeting and you say dam that person isn’t in uhd quality lol

From every new iMac webcam examples that I saw, the quality is dope.
Even the 720p MBA looks better than most competitors, but the new 1080p camera with the image processing is a whole new level, looks better than every other webcam I saw, except maybe the 4K Logitech Brio.

Would be great if this model were available by now. And yep. 1080 video, yah that is sure nice. Umm finally.
