iPhone Xs Max

Pronounced by all as "iPhone excess max"
Wow, just stick with Plus.

I'm just wondering how Apple has dug themselves into such a hole in terms of naming. iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPhone 9?, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max. Even in the Mac line - MacBook is the ultraportable 12", yet they might introduce a MacBook Air that is cheaper, but bigger? Supposedly Apple is designing things years ahead of time, but it seems like they come up with names on the spot with no thought put into what they will do the year after.

Who ever came up with the marketing idea of calling a product XS as in excess or excessive should be fired! My wife already thinks what I'm paying for these damn phones and products is crazy, come on Apple get some creativity !!!!
Or XS as in extra small. Yeah let’s name Apple’s largest phone XS.

That sounds very stupid, reminds me of the Motorola Droid Maxx.

Why not just call it the iPhone XL & iPhone Xv2 or something.....

In the old days and old Apple, I would bet the 6.5" don't get a new name difference to the 5.8"

It used to call "Plus" because there are difference in Camera, higher PPI and higher memory. Now the iPhone Xs 5.8 and 6.5 are rumoured to be essentially the same phone but different screen size. Just like MacBook Pro 13" and 15". You wouldn't call a MacBook 15" MacBook Plus or Max.

The pricing is very strange though. $799 for iPhone Xs ? $200 dollar cheaper than last year mode with better spec? That is very UnApple.

My prediction

$249 - iPhone SE
$349 - iPhone 6s
$449 - iPhone 6s Plus
$449 - iPhone 7
$549 - iPhone 7 Plus
$699 - LCD 6.1"
$899 - iPhone XS 5.8"
$999 - iPhone XS 6.4"

That sound horrible if it turns out to be true. I wish Apple would just go the iPad route and have an iPhone and an iPhone pro.... is there a reason to continue to number these things? are consumers not going to be able to determine if they are buying the newest model?

The 6s and 7's will be gone....the 8 will stay.
And the LCD will be called 9

Lol the naming debacle continues. I love how the article says that iPhone Xs Plus is a mouthful to say, but iPhone Xs Max is easier to pronounce! It's just silly. I don't care what they call it but this situation is pretty funny

Xs Max would be a pretty terrible name imo. They need a complete refresh of the naming scheme.

9to5 has been getting some reputable info - but I just can’t come to believe that it’ll be called XS Max.

XS is already terrible enough and confusing with both a Roman numeral and a letter that can be produced multiple ways. “Excess”, “tennis”, etc.

And Max has identical pronunciation to Macs. Weird.

Just go with iPhone Xs Plus, it's no more a mouthful than iPhone 6s Plus, or iPhone Xs Max for that matter. Apple is seriously overthinking this...

But at least the s is now confirmed to be lowercase.

Wow, Apple really f******* up their nomenclature

Hire me!!

Mac - Mac Pro
iMac - iMac Pro
MacBook - MacBook Pro
iPad - iPad Pro
iPhone - iPhone Pro

Kill Air
Kill mini
Kill Plus
Kill Bill

*Amen* consistent stop numbering the phones (which is unsustainable after a while) and just use the year, like the rest of their product lines

And to make it truly

Also, just want you to know, having a really long day today, and you just made me laugh super hard with that end. Thanks, I needed that today :)

Xs Max

Xs would generally be thought of as 'Extra Small'. That's already a bad choice, IMHO.

Xs Max could then be considered Extra Small Max. Ick.

And if they ever use if for iPads, we have the:

iPad Max or MaxiPad. :)
