I have had my device in a unbootable state a couple of times and I just ran evasion again, then run ILEX RAT.

by that, do you mean you just ran evasi0n when it was stuck at the apple boot logo? This restored the device to a usable state?

I don't really see the difference between semi restore and ilex rat. It seems they both do the same thing, but semi restore requires being connected to a computer. Am I missing something?

As far as i can see iLEX RAT deletes almost all jailbreak tweaks, Semi-Restore goes further and brings your device back to just jailbroken and the activation screen.

I keep getting the same error no matter what browser I use...

When I use ilex option 12, it wipes all my apps, tweaks, etc and brings me to activation screen. The only thing that stays is Cydia. Does semi restore do something different?

For one, ILEX RAT requires you to install the package via Cydia. If you get stuck in a boot loop obviously this becomes very problematic, if not impossible. Semi-Restore runs from the computer and theoretically can be used even when stuck in a boot loop where booting is impossible (and therefore you can't install ILEX RAT).

This is my understanding. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't used either tool. My phone is running the same as its always run so I have no need. Hopefully it remains that way but I feel safer now that both options are available :D

Careful, I already heard from two close friends who lost their JB using Semi-Restore tool.
For one of them it didn't remove everything and he couldn't open Cydia anymore. The other told me after the "cleaning" his mobile was freezing right after boot, over and over.

Just a heads up for the ones willing to use it.

I had that problem with not being able to open Cydia a couple weeks ago and all I did was re-run Evasi0n jailbreak again and fixed it. Coolstar Org on twitter said that his tool will NOT kill your jailbreak 99% of the time and only 1% of people are having problems. Seems your 2 friends and I are the lucky ones to make it into the 1%...

I still can't use the semi-restore tool I get the same error message that I posted above no matter what.

I tried it on a IP4 8gb on 6.1 and it worked flawlessly.

Pristine jailbroken 6.1 after the process, checked the file structure and all personal stuff like pics etc were gone.

Good job by Coolstar!

I tested it on an A4 device too and it worked perfectly the first time. That phone is old and I've done all kinds of stuff to it. It's my friend's test device. He was pretty impressed by semi-restore. He's a developer too but still an amateur. After it ran, it was completely wiped and the jailbreak remained.

My hat goes off to CoolStar! Now if he could only finish Procyon 3! That thing is turning into the lochness monster....

Just went to go give it another shot and it says that it is updating the tool. Hopefully I'll report back here with success! Thanks for the replies and congrats to all that it has worked for;)

Im really debating jailbreaking again. Now theres no turning back, and i refuse to update to ios 7. If i jailbreak on 6.1.2, and anything goes wrong, im screwed. Im having battery issues anyway. I would actually rather be on ios 6.1.3/4 stock rather than 7.x.x jailbroken...

----------

And thats also why im looking into using an iphone 4 for a while. Because of downgrades :)

?? You having battery issues on stock? Why not do a reset all and setup as new?

You'll need full blobs to downgrade an IP4, be careful what you buy!

But trying this tool is worth a shot since the only "other" fix for most is a restore to current firmware.

1% or 10%, doesn't matter, it is not 100% and definitely worth letting people know there's also a chance it blows your JB away.
