Havent used it yet :rolleyes: im waiting till tommorw
If it's just a $9,95 credit, you could just put it in now and use it to buy the firmware. But it will only be able to be exchanged once. It's not like fifty people can all use the same iTunes gift card.

Ill do better then that, Im going to share the ispw
1. That's illegal, and against forum rules to discuss that.
2. It'll be locked down with DRM, I'm sure

Is the code for the firmware or for $9,95 credit? I'm assuming that it's $9,95 credit, which means that you could put it in your account now. I know that the firmware is not available, but it's not like you have to use the code the nanosecond that you put it in.

OP = original post(er)

ahh thank you... & well I just want to stick to the safe side and wait till tommorw. Until then ill just stick with 2.0 Beta

All I know is that tomorrow I'm ordering mine come hell or high water...if I get the update or a credit for the update then great, if not then at least I'll know it's on its way.

To you guys who sent me an email, ive gotten back to you with your ispw linked files....

GL with your install :)

Now what makes you think Apple would deviate from that policy when 2.0 comes out? I dunno but I think everyone should relax and wait to see what tomorrow will bring.

Honestly? Because typically Apple gives you a grace period on OS upgrades (I bought my PowerBook 15 days before Panther came out, I got a free upgrade). Usually because we are still within the return period -- rather than put up with the churn of "I'm returning this iPod then turning around and buying a new one with the firmware already on it" they allow the grace period.

But more to the point -- not everyone knows about this upgrade. My wife bought be a Touch for my birthday last week; she doesn't spend her life on this forum knowing a new version is coming out.

A grace period would seem only fair -- do you expect me to be happy that I pay an extra $20 for my iPod's features just because I was born in the first half of July and not the second half?

I'm kicking this thread back to the top of the heap...

Like a few others here, I called an Apple Rep an hour ago and she told me the same thing.. all iPod Touch buyers, past, future, and in transit (c'est moi) will have to pay the $10 to upgrade the software.

that's some bullcrap imo. :mad::mad::mad:

I'd understand if it was just everyone who bought an iPod touch before today didn't get it, but future buyers?!

I would not have expected this. What does this portend for future iPod Touch OS development/updates vs the iPhone. Is the Touch OS static from now into the somewhat near future?

Yea, I'll pay them their $10, but no way am I dl-ing an app that costs more $$. Just freebies for me. and no more $ for software updates for them.

I'm gonna call another rep... I just can't believe that this is true.
