I like it. Moreover, I think it looks quite elegant. For the most part, Apple has always gone to great lengths to design gorgeous icons (inexplicably phoning it in on some like Mission Control, Expose, etc.), why not showcase them? The blurring of the desktop background is also a nice tough.

As long as it's done nicely (Vista wasn't), I'm all for the addition of graphics.

I don't care about MS, I care about Apple. After being with them for years, some of the recent moves they are making seem a bit overly simplistic.

Yet that's just my preferences, if you like it, that's terrific and I respect your reasons for preferring it. I'm all about choices and differences.

Unfortunately some on this forum are against anyone who thinks for themselves and has their own opinions. The question I pose is this: wouldn't it be a boring world if we were all the same? If we all dressed the same, thought the same and bought the same things? I think it would.

Oh, you said "Gimmicky, cheap looking", so naturally Vista came to mind ;)
