Oh well...can't miss something I never had!
I would say either the PNW or the Midwest. It almost seems like they are trying to knock out the more populated sections first.I think PNW is next.
In addition to being on my Mac, I just got the north east maps on my phone. Looks like we are getting closer!
It was sometime today! I didn’t have it last night or this morning, but do now. When you say "just got" it on your phone...like within the past few hours? Maybe earlier today?
I check Apple Maps like every hour or so. LOL

I get a similar experience with Waze on my XSBeen testing google maps and apple maps. I noticed google maps tend to drain battery life much faster than apple maps. Can easily tell because my Iphone X screen starts to dim while using car charger and generally takes longer to charge the battery. The phone also runs incredibly hot. I tried a run with apple maps and took much longer to dim or not dim at all and battery charged faster. Can anybody here confirm it?
Was reading a Reddit thread. Someone, whose phone had the new Northeast maps, complained that after receiving the Northeast update, they suddenly lost all audio during navigation, except for when arriving at their destination. They contacted Apple, who stated it was a bug being worked out.
On his own, the user decided to do a complete reset of his phone, and restored a previous backup. After doing so, he no longer had the Northeast update, but his navigation audio was working again. That's interesting.
If you think back to April and May, I was having a lot of trouble with my Maps. Street name bubbles were not appearing, and audio directions weren't playing often. After complaining to Apple, the problems went away, and have never returned.
HYPOTHESIS:
As has been stated here, Apple's Maps updates are all server side. I'm wondering if random servers are selected to make changes to see how they work, and random users get to see these changes before anyone else. But not all changes work right before wide release, so those same users sometimes experience unintended bugs.
When Apple started updated Maps, I was previously always seeing the new updates before anyone else. I'm wondering if perhaps, after I complained about the bugs I was experiencing, Apple somehow moved my Maps connection onto their most stable server, which only sees the final releases. Hence, I'm not going to get the Northeast update until it's official release.
I know this is jumping ahead a bit, but any guessing on what region could be next? I wasn't expecting the Northeast after the previous updates being in the southwest.
Same here. I bet they go "south" and finish the Southeast, and then move into the Midwest. After all of the U.S. is complete, I bet southern Canada (bordering the U.S.) is next.
I would not be terribly shocked if they release the whole US either tomorrow or when iOS 13 is released next week. The Northeast may have simply been a test bed for the largest (population-wise) remaining area.
I received quite a few notifications over the weekend informing me of updates from submissions submitted as far back as June, and as recently as last week.
The DQ Grill & Chill now correctly shows up in the right location and correctly shows that they accept Apple Pay, but still has an incorrect entrance location, and still suffers from the bug that sometimes shows it in a wrong city.
Must be a bummer when people drive in looking for a Peanut Buster Parfait and instead they are confronted with a greasy hot dog slowly spinning on rollers. 😀The seemingly never-ending DQ Grill & Chill Maps POI saga continues:
I submitted an error report deleting the incorrect entrance, and then adding two correct entrances. They added the entrances, but not where I placed them. Now the two entrances are placed at a neighboring gas station's entrances, and they moved the DQ location to the back of the gas station's building. 😕🙄
I thought that too at one point, especially when you consider the fact that they have all the US data ready to go. (I believe Alaska was the final state they were doing their first pass on, and last I saw was that it was finished in July). When I looked at the site, they began posting about states that they were going through again to stay as up to date as possible. But as cool as it would be...I don't think it will be all be this month either.Terribly shocked? No, I can't say I would be either, but with Apple saying by year's end, I don't really expect it to all be available this month either.
