So, no updates, as expected. Now, I'm really wondering, what to do. I'm in the market for a new macbook, have been for a while. I want an Air (and would like to get it during Back to School), but I sure am curious about that rumored new Macbook Pro... somehow I doubt, there will be another keynote in June, and there certainly won't be anything coming in either July or August (unless late late August, like the first metal iMac many many many years ago). Two product keynotes in September seem odd (and I HIGHLY doubt there will be a iPhone-MacBook double-feature), which would leave it to October...that's really late, especially considering how long the macbooks haven't been updated.

Don't know what to say i can tell you that in the next 2-3 months theres going to be a keynote with update s for computers.

So does anyone know how much faster the 2016 MacBook Air and 2016 MacBook Pro are over last year MacBook Air and 2016 MacBook Pro?

Beg to differ here. Was not the 6 introduced alongside both Apple Watch and 12.9" iPad Pro?? With the rumors circulating that the iPhone 7 isn't going to be a proper redesign at all, more of a 6ss launch, they will probably need to have something big to come with alongside that. I expect the new redesigned MBPr to be that something big and the keynote event will probably be in the latter half of September so they can do their thing with preorders for 1 week and then the release the next week.

LOL @ a "Pro" model with one port. If this is the case I will be buying my last mac, and it will be whichever macbook pro was right before this one.

/vent I still can't get out of my head what Tim said when introducing the 12" iPad Pro. Can't remember the exact quote but essentially along the lines of "for many this will replace a computer". Their failure to specify whether there will even be a new MacBook Pro or Air in the future is really shortsighted and quite unfair to the back to school buying demographic. The guessing/waiting game is long in the tooth and boring now. I am quietly starting to become disenchanted with the way this man is running Apple...I truly miss Steve. /vent off

Yup.

This can go either way. They won't sell as many (though they probably don't mind, less free headphones they have to give out) because people are waiting. Or they gonna disappoint a LOT of people when they come out with new models right after back to school ends.

I'm really at a loss at what to do.

Well, there's not gonna happen anything in June. Somehow I doubt July and when it's August they might as well wait until after BtS. September is iPhone month ....so I guess it will be October after all, unfortunately.

I know what you mean, the whole thing is really getting stale and the competition isn't sleeping either (hp, dell, razer). I don't know if Apple can afford to take their "time" like they have been.

DarknetGuy (an self proclaimed Apple Insider at some .Onion forum), tells Apple to have an Summer Mac Event, to introduce macOS and new Macbook Pro's (14"/16") and a new Mac Pro, plus a 5K TB3 Display (w/o integral GPU), Even Possible Apple to introduce updated iMacs and Mac Mini or "nano" .

Anticipates, Macbook Pros having only 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports, OLED Command Bar having haptic feedback too, plus gestures, same for mac Mini and iMacs only 2TB3 ports plus 4 additional USB-C non thunderbolt capable ports, all USB-C ports will be enabled for Video Output, upto 32BG Ram options for MacBook Pros.

Doesn't make sense. Apple already introduced macOS and it's to come out in the fall.

How sure are you on this?

Hey, they don't call this site MacRUMORS for nothing...

I'm so disappointed in some of the decisions Apple is making with their hardware. I really can't stand the butterfly keyboard. It actually hurts my hands to type on for more than a minute. I have some issues with my hands that are a result of the non-typing parts of my occupation, but I know a lot of people don't like that keyboard. I may be forced to buy a 2015 Macbook Pro totally souped up and use it for as long as it is relevant.

And then there's this no headphone jack stuff in the iPhone. From what I can tell, it won't be possible to use the same headphones on a late 2016 iPhone and a late 2016 Macbook Pro. That's crazy.

.

Apple updated the rMBP keyboard in 2015 but did not use the butterfly design. The only reason it is that way is due to the thinness, and the fact that they didn't bring it over to the rMBP indicates that they see it as a compromise. So I think we'll be OK.

I disagree. The new rMBP is rumored to be thinner...hence, they may 'need' to include that awful butterfly keyboard.

The keyboard is actually one of the reasons why I'm really torn. I'm in need of a new Macbook and all my brain is saying 'Wait. Get the new one'. But damn I'm so tempted to grab an old model just for the sheer chance that the new ones will see that awful new keyboard...

Just wait. If it is the case, then you (and me, because I won't be using that keyboard either) can get an old one cheaper. In any case, the leak design isn't that much thinner, and certainly not nearly as thin as the rMB.

Well...here's the thing. If I'm not getting a new thinner Pro, I'll get an Air. A BTO one with pretty good Edu-discount (here's another thing that really hurts my brain: back to school. It is tempting). I somehow doubt that I'll have a good chance of grabbing a BTO Air after new Pros are here. BTOs usually aren't in stock anywhere and I'm also quite reluctant to buy refurbished.

Apple Refurbs are fine. Apple replaces all external parts including the case; only the guts are reused (except for the battery--that is also new). And it comes with the same warranty. The major downside is you can't use an Edu discount.

But I don't think the Air will be going anywhere once the Pro comes out. Apple still needs a machine at that price point. Eventually that will be the rMB, but it's still too expensive.

Airs are out for me because half the reason I want to upgrade is for retina...
