Updated MacBook Pros, iPads, and Mac Pro All Reportedly Expected by Mid-November

Hopefully there's an updated Mac Mini thrown into the mix.

Need Mac Mini refresh!

What about Mac Mini?

I'm going to very disappointed if they don't update the Mac Mini.

Although the Mini probably will not get any attention if they do update it, it may be due for a more significant update. The move to the new SSDs may result in them dropping the drive bays at some point. Particularly if they add at least 2 thunderbolt ports.

There is bound to be a new mini sometime soon. Maybe not in this wave of products, though -- lots of other things going on.

I am hoping for a "Haswell only" update, and, not a more significant update. Lower idle power and faster Intel graphics, otherwise, leave it like it is. I need to hang on to my FW gear a little longer; I'm afraid a major update will drop the FW port.

So what about the 17' MacbookPro? Rumour? http://tinyurl.com/pje73t3

Apple PLEASE make a 17" MacBook Pro!

If only. I need to replace my 17". A 3840x2160 17" MBP with anti-glare would just fit the bill perfectly.

Along with the Mac Pro, they should release new displays. In addition they should also offer a bundle of the Mac Pro with a TB display.

no love for the macmini?
I hope they renew it before I buy mine around xmas time, those iris graphics or anything better than the hd4000 could be great.

mid november is way too long for the new iPads... If this update is big for both models the supply and demand is going to be way to low pissing off a lot of people

I am pretty close to just getting a Windows 8.1 laptop.
Me too. I have to decide if I want to shell out 3k for a rMBP or get something equally as fast (dell, asus, etc.) for 2k. I'm on the fence.

That's the funniest thing I've read here in a long while.
Have you USED Win8? Seriously? It's bad. I mean Windows ME in a lightning storm bad. Excruciatingly bad. Mind numbingly bad. We tested several Windows 8 systems where I work and the head of IT (who thinks MS can do no wrong, that Outlook is the best e-mail client ever, that the Ribbon is one of the best ideas ever, that Clippy was very useful, that...well you get the idea. He's a MS Uber Alles kind of guy) has announced that the company will be skipping Windows 8 completely. Too buggy, too many problems with legacy equipment and software, too many security (cloud related) issues and above all he HATES the interface.

Gonna buy a Win8 laptop. Yeah pull the other one.

I have used Windows 8 since the Beta. The same with Office 2013. I enjoy using Windows 8 and could not dream of going back to 7.

Too little, too late.

Apple's product refresh rate was just abysmal this year. If they had refreshed their computer lineup 2-3 months ago like most companies, I'd still be part of the Apple ecosystem.

With Apple, you usually have two options:
- Pay top-dollar for outdated hardware and beautiful design.
- Wait indefinitely for Apple to refresh their product lineup with current technology -- 6 months after the competition -- and still pay top dollar for mid-tier performance.

No thank you, Apple.

This is a company that has grown complacent with its success. Watch the slow decline begin...

Seems logical-- since Apple bragged that the Mac Pro can drive 3 simultaneous 4K displays, it makes sense for them to sell 4K displays so that you can buy 3 of them.

See ya!

I'm still running an HD3000 which is not the best match for my 27" display. :(

Woo Hoo !

Shortly after Nov 15, we can get our hands on the Mac Pro's .kexts in order to build a proper Hackint0sh.

hopefully some native power saving now :D

Even though I personally will still camp out, I'm thinking that November 1st may be a bad date to launch with Halloween being the night before.

Naw, not at all. All the parents will be too pooped to want to camp out ;)

Can you cite a source for this? Programs like Mari, AutoCad, PS CS6 are all optimized to use as many cores as available to maximize workflows like renders.

Based on personal experience from many years consulting in workstation configuration, deployment and purchasing. I expected much more of a shift to many-core workstations having a much larger deployment among creatives, it hasn't happened.

Agreed but not sure they're interested in creating a low barrier to buy with this machine.

Maybe so, but that is a shame. These systems shouldn't be expensive just because. What Apple were selling for $2,500 these past 4 years was available elsewhere for half the price. Apple have reduced costs and I don't really see them having done all they have shown publicly if these are going to be $2,000 of hardware for $4,000.

What is your source for this information? As far as I'm aware, Apple doesn't break out sales of it's products like Mac Pro along the lines of what CPU packages are selling best.

Can be seen by the average revenue on desktop systems which Apple do report. It is currently under $1,300.

Agree...AirPlay will be awesome but I am going to live with it unless and must have new Macbook.

I paid almost $1700 in Oct 2008 and will squeeze out as much as I can from this :D

i would the the exact same. i bought the white MB for $900 and the SSD was a gift.

At least HD4000 is way better, but still far behind amd and nvidia chips :(

And what happened with that damn thunderbolt PCIE card expansion?
This could be great for anything with the crappy intel GPUs.

Only 2010? That's called being trapped in the Apple ecosystem. Have fun bending over.

Yeah, can you believe it? Only four years of use (almost, since I bought it in early Feb/2010), and now it can process a 25-layer adobe photoshop CS6 file only as quickly as (and much more seamlessly and crash-free than) the latest Wintel machines. So sad.

Please, oh unbending one, show me an early 2010 wintel machine that can run effortlessly Windows 8 (mine runs Mountain Lion like a breeze), the latest version of process-demanding software ()I use the CS6 suite on a daily basis), still get 2 hours of battery time, and still have a resell value above zero.

A $2000 Windows laptop crushes a $4000 Macbook Pro.

Now, that's a VERY scientific and statistically relevant test (/S). For instance :

The Article said:
Operating System Stability Answer – We have switched 3 of our production machines to Windows 8 and seen no stability issues.

The plural of "anecdote" is not "data".

The Article said:
Adobe Premiere CS6 Optimization Answer – This is difficult to address since Adobe has not and most likely will not come out into the open and say “Our software is optimized for PC.” That would simply be bad for business.

Answer? No.

But since you seem to like specs, here are some very interesting ones as well:

15in MPBr battery life: 7 hours
17in ASUS battery life: 2 1/2 hours

15in MBPr weight: 4.46 pounds
17in ASUS weight: 8.7 pounds (twice as much equipment for half the price!)

Anyway, suit yourself: if Wintel's your cup of tea, go for it.

neat...

so, it either looks like Apple will squeeze the new Macbook pro, new iPads in all on 22nd October, or they'll be a third event next month :)

Yay !!..
