My thought too. C'mon, Tosser, name the product we should all be swapping our iPhones for.

Oh no, there's no need to even get to all-singing, all-dancing stuff by even Tosser's yardstick.

Ask him about something pretty basic - oh I dunno, say playlists on the Cowon machine he mentions. You'd think the ability to create playlists easily on anything you can use the player with is a fairly basic part of a player, right?

Or maybe the transfer speed via USB - seeing as on a flash player, you'll be swapping stuff in and out on a regular basis.

What are you on about?

Well, you can make on-the-go lists, but I mostly listen to albums, so never used that either, just like I don't use playlists in iTunes.

My transfer speed as in writing to the D2 is 35Mbps (Upload 40Mbps) what's yours?
Besides that I have 16 and 32 GB SDHC cards, so I don't "regularly" swap much around.
The only thing I regularly add is, say, an interview, some ambience or whatever piece I'm working with at the moment. And I can do that from any computer I choose to – it will play without the use of iTunes or any player.
Also, I have portable apps on the thing, allowing me to use it as a thumb drive, editing audio (and pictures if I choose), FTP and so forth.
How's those things going with your iPod?

One could also argue that you can walk in a sports shoe without laces. Playlisting is a central component of most people's listening experiences, and the only reason why you may not use it on the iRivers and Cowons is that it's a nightmare to get working.

Onto an SDHC card on-unit (as opposed to plugging it into a card reader and then promptly forgetting the card as you walk out of the door ;) )? Really? I get 35mbps on a 700Mb varied-file transfer on the 32Gb Touch from a Pro through a Belkin 4-port hub, including the database build time at the end. Hows about that boot time with a filled high-cap SDHC? Or firmware updates breaking SDHC compatibility?

Funny how you feel like a beta tester for Apple - especially as with Cowon, the entire player is apparently in beta for it's shelf life.

I have a separate thumb drive. You can buy them separately and just keep them permanently in your bag you know. It's not only faster than the D2 or the Touch, it's solely for moving stuff around and I don't have to carry any USB connection cables.

LOL, no. I stopped using playlists before I even heard of Cowon, and before I moved on from iPods. As previously stated, because I mostly listen to albums. Don't misrepresent what I'm saying by introducing opinions I have not stated.
With regards to "central components" in a DAP, I consider Disk Mode (i.e. USB Mass Storage) to be one such central component. I consider the ability to play whatever I put on it to be able to be played by the DAP, and I consider "the best AUDIO quality" to be a central component to Digital Audio Player and certainly to the "listening experience".

I don't forget my cards, just like I don't forget my cell phone. What's with you? Do you really have to use things like "forgetfulness" in your attempt to prove that the Touch is better? Your pseudo argumentation has just went from ignorant to ridiculous.
Yes, I do get the times I claim to get.

Hows about that boot time with a filled high-cap SDHC?
Around three seconds if it has seen the card before. Around 12 secs if it's a new card it has never seen (i.e. something I have filled from a card reader). But then again, none of my files are in lossy format, so that might be a reason for this.

Or firmware updates breaking SDHC compatibility?
Never had an update break SDHC compatilibility with any of my cards. But are you seriously going to go on with all that nonsense? You want me to list all the problems and peeves people have with the Touch? Come now, we know that that list will outweigh anything you can dream up.

Funny how you feel like a beta tester for Apple - especially as with Cowon, the entire player is apparently in beta for it's shelf life.
Wow, and this is coming from someone who apparently bought a Touch!? And who most likely also bought into the mobile me-affair?

If you haven't noticed, Apple makes a whole deal more than the iPods. But a real Touch-fanboy of course wouldn't notice such small things ...

Are you freaking kidding me? I have had fewer problems with the Cowon D2 than any of my iPods, and I DO feel like a beta tester for Apple. Just like the slew of people who bought the iPhones and iPod Touch's I consider to be beta testers. How on earth can you be so oblivious to the never ending problems and short comingss with and of the iPhone and the Touch?

I have a separate thumb drive. You can buy them separately and just keep them permanently in your bag you know.
LOL, so your retort to me stating that the Touch has a shortcoming because it can't play any file simply dumped to it (in that it can't be dumped to it), is that you carry around a thumb drive? And you were the bloke introducing the pseudo argument that an SDHC slot isn't good as it might make me forget the card!?

Does that Thumb drive allow you to plug your headphones into it and play a file you just dumped to it?

It's not only faster than the D2 or the Touch, it's solely for moving stuff around and I don't have to carry any USB connection cables.
LOL, no, you're not carrying, say, a Ziplinq USB cable, but instead you're carrying a product that only does one thing, to make up for the short comings of your Touch. Excellent deduction, Sesshi
The thing is, even those days where I don't have my player with me (it happens), I carry a USB cable. The reason is I have other things that use a USB cable (and a FW cable, for my recorder).

Hmm, the speed doesn't really matter in the real world. As I mentioned, I use the D2 to dump my latest interview, some ambience or whatever onto it and then listen to it on the way home. I can't do that with a dumb flash drive, nor can I dump a song my friend made onto it and then listen to it on my way home. So the time "saved" by having your "solution" would waste at least half an hour to an hour every time.

Not only that, as the D2 essentially is a card reader, I can take the SDHC card from my camera and put it in the slot, allowing me to upload pictures much faster than using the camera's usb-connection.
But I guess you "just" carry around a faster USB card reader, right?

<too-frackin-obvious rolleyes>
Oh, I read that as "too-fracking-oblivious-rolleyes" – it would be much more fitting after all.

I had the same problem yesterday. It seems error 5002 can be many different things, and others have solved it by reauthorizing, reparing disk permissions, changing store buying preferences. However, none of these worked for me. I found out what was causing me to get that error. One of my apps had recently changed (probably the link changed in the itunes store) and that was causing itunes to give me the error and hang in authorizing limbo. The app was Midomi. All I did was delete the Midomi app from my computer and redownload it. At first I was going through my whole list of apps trying to find the "problem app". After about half an hour, I realized that the Midomi icon in my iTunes was the generic App Store Icon, and not the original Midomi Icon. This fixed my problem and let me finish updating my 4 other updates.

Let me know if this works...
This worked.. I did the same thing above. cleared all generic icons.
I had 3 of them and the (5002 error of death) went away.
Thanks,
SENSEI

On the iphone itself, I used to see an "update all" option but now I no longer see this option, nor do I see an option to even update each app. I have 5 applications updates and now way to update them!! argh!
