It seems to me that by posting your question in the Mavericks forum, you're going to mainly get responses that already are running Mavericks

I'm using DP 5 now, and it's as smooth as silk with the exception of a nagging issue with Java based chat stability.

If all my software is compatible on launch day, I will upgrade on day 1.
Same. I've been upgrading on or near release day for OS X since OS X 10.5, never had issues with the "point zero" releases. But I rely heavily on a lot of third-party software at this point, and regardless of OS X 10.9.0's stability, I'll be in trouble if those programs have issues. There's not much point in upgrading if all I can do is admire OS X 10.9, being unable to get work done on it :)

Just as I did with Lion and Mountain Lion, I will be upgrading to Mavericks as soon as it is released. Most likely, I will download it on the day it is released and then install it the following weekend when I have the extra time.

This will be the forth time on this computer (Mid 09 MBP) that I'm upgrading to a new OS the day it's released. So far, no major problems.

I think the bigger question is to upgrade or do a fresh install?

I've upgraded mostly but thinking of doing a fresh install this time around. I've never had issues with upgrading but I've noticed a heavy amount of lingering files in the Library folder from applications that I no longer use. Really wish there was a simple way of cleaning those up without risking the chance of removing something that could screw up your system. Thinking a fresh start and then pulling from TimeMachine only the files I want to keep will be the best bet.

I see no reason to wait.

I've been running Mavs since DP1 as my "test" OS and while I don't boot into it every day, it's been more than stable enough for me to switch once it becomes available in the app store. It wouldn't surprise me if this were a lower cost update even than Mountain Lion. Why? Because Mavs brings new features to better "lock down" your Mac and prevent OS reinstall without a valid iTunes log-in.

Sure these new features help prevent stolen Macs from being sold as easily but they also can be used as DRM. I think this may be the real reason we had to wait until Mavs to get iBooks.

I continue to use Kindle as my main ebooks reading platform because I can get access to my stuff across "all" platforms. I'm probably not typical but I use Amazon cloud player for my music for the same reason. As the owner of a car radio that knows how to play mp3 files but not every AAC file, I prefer to keep all my music in mp3 format.

Ironic isn't it? I'm all-in on Apple's OS's and apps but I hedge my bets on books and media.

Launch day for myself and some others in the IT department. It will be shipping on Macs that inevitably arrive within days of it's launch so we need to be prepared, bugs or not ;)

Just a word of warning... check your timemachine backups before you do this. Common for me to have corrupt TM backups. Lucky for me I always do a file backup to my NAS, so nothing much lost when I did my last fresh install.

Good luck. I will be getting on launch day. Those that are worried about early bugs...all I can say is that I am just replacing current bugs for newer bugs.

So basically the title, are you going to wait for mavericks to become more "stable" and see if there are any big bugs, or are you going to upgrade at launch?

The moment it's publicly available my machine will be downloading it and the SO's machine, too.

I already have Mavericks running and i will update as soon as a new version comes out. I like to be a beta tester, same goes for iOS. But as soon as the version for the general public is out, i will update.

Since we have three Macs in the house, I'm going to leave my main workhorse alone ( iMac) and update my rMBP. My fiancee has my MBA as her main machine, so I guess she might wait too. I just want to see what others experience before taking the plunge on my main work tool.

I actually use a Synology NAS as a TimeMachine backup. So hopefully it won't all be corrupted when I need it.

Is there a way to check the integrity of a TM backup before going through an actual migration?

I usually don't wait too long to update unless I am very busy and can't afford to take any risks of screwing up my system when I need to get work done. Will see how it goes

Normally, I'm waiting, but Mavericks is just improvements over ML without much new features. So they've had plenty of time to make it rock solid, and what I hear from others using the developer previews, it's already great!

So I will be installing it the second it arrives in the App Store :)
