I honestly am tempted by the Pro. If it was cheaper, I'd probably get it; as I mentioned, though, I already have an MBA so it would kinda be pointless for me. I still like the idea of the bigger more immersive screen for school and stuff.

Whether you decide to upgrade is up to you but I'll give you my experience. I upgraded from the air to air 2 and I was honestly shocked how much better it is and I'm only a casual user. So much more fluid and responsive. I'd heard people say about how much better it was but honestly thought they were exaggerating. It couldn't be that much better surely? But it really is. The air 1 had some serious lag in comparison.

Thanks for sharing. I think I will get the air 2. Should be able to get a great deal with either Apple refurbished or a Black Friday sale. Might even load up on storage with the 128gb so this thing lasts a good long while.

And it will. The Air 2 will last you another 4 years, regardless. Just don't update it beyond iOS 11 ;)

So, to get the air 2, after selling my iPad Air 1, it probably will cost me around $200. Do you think that is worth it? It's gonna be a bday gift though so may be only like $50 out of my money. What do you guys think? Worth it or wait for air 3?

Love my Air 2. But reading your saga ;) I don't get the feeling that you are really unhappy with the Air 1. Unless you're dying for the multitasking features of iOS 9 (specifically, Split View), save your cash for another 6-12 months and get an Air 3.

If I'm wrong about where your head is at, order an Apple refurb Air 2 right now! :D

Lol, a saga indeed! :D
Well, I think the big thing is, I use my iPad a lot. It's my main device for school, and for entertainment. I use it more than my MacBook Air 13, and more than my iPhone 6 as long as I'm home. So, I guess the little upgrades of the air 2 will probably add up to a significantly better experience day in and day out for me. And when I got my air 1, I didn't expect to use it for school, at that time my iPad was more of just a lounging device that I used just for basic entertainment stuff. But now, since I've bought the air 1, my iPad is now used for school, and I use it way more and it has become a more irreplaceable device for me. So I really think the air 2 would be worth it, now that I think of it. Also, seeing how much I use it, I imagine the air 2 will provide a better experience than the mini 4 since I'm using it a lot; the more immersive screen will make sense here and provide a nicer experience. But I'll probably have to use the two in the Apple Store to make a final decision :p

Hey...I had an Air 1 for a year and loved it. I got an Air 2 to play with the iOS 9 beta, and I love it, too, but for *me* it doesn't do much that the Air 1 didn't do just as well, and the Air 1 got noticeably better battery life. Just sayin'. ;)

It isn't too substantial of an upgrade I know, but even just split view makes it worth it IMO, for me at least. Now I just gotta figure out mini 4 vs air 2. Big immersive screen, or super light comfortable form factor....that's my debate for the next month lol.

I would say its not worth the upgrade for the following reasons. If battery life is important to you, the Air 2 has worse than the Air 1. Also, if you tend to listen to audio via the builtin speakers instead of headphones/earbuds, the vibration in the Air 2 may bother you. Lastly, there is a minor screen issue in the lower right corner in which you will get distortion if held there too tightly.

The way you have continued to post though, it's sounds as if the money is burning a hole in your pocket and you'd really like to upgrade. If you've made this many posts about it, then just do it. You can still get top dollar for the iPad Air 1. Sell it now before Black Friday for your best bang for your buck. Then, come Black Friday, buy yourself the iPad Air 2. I'm guessing with sagging tablet sales, the glut of tablets on the market, and the competition for retailers to get your business, there will be STEEP discounts on tablets. Minimum $100 off and more than likely $150 off. Maybe more.

Anyway you look at it, the Air 1 and Air 2 are phenomenal tablets. Just stay away from 16GB (but I'm sure you know that :)

If you purchase a iPad Air 2 used you can save even more money.
I'm looking at either Apple refurbished or an eBay open box discount or something like that. I may also get a Black Friday deal if there are good ones.

If Staple's $150 off is a good indication, there's going to be awesome BF deals on the Air 2 coming up, unless Apple decides to put their foot down on MAPS...

Yeah I'm hoping to get a 128GB for $550, that'd be a sweet deal and id be covered on storage AND performance for year to come.

I bought my 128GB for $550 during the Staples deal. It's possible that on Black Friday there will be a comparable deal... probably along the lines of buying the iPad at regular price and receiving a gift card for $100-$150.
Since you use your Air for a variety of purposes, including productivity, you'll really appreciate the split-window capabilities.

Yeah it'll be great for writing down notes, where i have to write on a physical note card, and on the iPad have a web page open next to my typed project outline; i can do this with split view easily.

Comparing my Air 2 to my brother's Air 1, my iPad is noticeably smoother in running iOS 9.x.

The thickness and weight difference is also noticeable, but not as extreme as the performance difference.

That's not to say that the Air 1 is terrible, but it struggles with the fancy transparency animations in iOS, whereas the Air 2 does not.

Refurbished is the way to go. Much better than getting used. Used will have huge risk of having cosmetic defects and such. No such risk with official Apple refurbs.

Thanks for the input, that is good to know. I like the idea of the smaller weight and size of the mini 5, but I do think the air 2 will be better cause I do love the big screen I have now on my air.

I'd say that the upgrade is noticeable. You get much smoother OS animations (performance is certainly the biggest upgrade), true multitasking (split screen multitasking is genuinely useful), double the RAM (Safari/Chrome pages and other apps reload less frequently), the lighter chassis (small difference, yet noticeable) and the less reflective screen (yes, it's noticeable when looking at them both side by side).

I've seen the above differences with my own eyes as my bro has let me play around with his Air :)

But again, the Air is still a great tablet in my opinion, just the Air 2 is better.

Great, will definitely get the air 2 then, if I decide to not get the mini 4.

Ahhh, yes, the Air vs Mini debate. I had a real tough time choosing between them, the thing that eventually swayed me over to the Air was the availability of refurbished units from the Apple Store.
