I have a 2015 MBP and was running Sierra until a few weeks ago, then moved to 10.13.5.
No issues at all.

There was no compelling reason for me to upgrade to HS so I figured I would wait for a mature release. I'll do the same with Mojave I think.

Good move by Howard2k above.

The High Sierra installer can now be downloaded in its "final release" (10.13.6).

It's worth downloading and keeping it in one's "archives" for future use (if needed).

May go out and DL the installer. Especially if I don't have to find the combo patch for 10.13.6.

So I suppose I've asked before, but I'll ask again since it's not clear to me: what tangible benefits does HS offer over Sierra? I haven't read of any, to be honest. And I've read lots of complaints. This is not rhetorical, I really do want to know.

Nothing significant for me. But with no downside either, the security patches are worthwhile I suspect (haven't researched the security implications in detail).

You'll always read complaints, people generally don't come to forums to say "hey this works great!".

Make sure you have a backup and you can always roll back.

I was a bit worried after all the bad things I heard for Fusiondrives in the beginning, so I waited to take on HS until 13.5 and that was lot longer then earlier.
It runs however smoother then Sierra. It’s always a good idea to have the latest system that is supported. But finding the balance of not upgr before initial bugs been removed.
Found some minor bugs om HS. Benefits? To have the latest updates.

Thanks for your reply, but the benchmarks I've seen show no difference between the two.

I notice difference in many ways, and I'm glad I'm on the last system.
Feel more ready for Mojave. But I'm certain I'll wait a few upgrades in.
By all means go on your benchmarks, if that is what matters to you ;)

Does safari feel snappier? I kid, I kid. :)

Has that booked helped you in the past? What kind of information does it have?
They usually explain your options for doing an upgrade or a clean install. Remind you to do backups beforehand. I'd guess they would explain your options about changing to the APFS file system. If you go to the site, I think you can download sample versions which would show the table of contents and some sample sections. The books aren't very expensive and they can give some guidance which can help you be aware of potential problems and how to work around them. In the past, they have been well written and not too difficult to follow.

Seems like a solid advice. I'll be updating my MBP 2011 to HS somewhere around Mojave's launch (as it won't run Mojave) and enjoy to more years of security updates.
what video card is in the MBP 2011 I am running macOS Mojave beta on my iMac 8.1 and 9,1
