I might be in the minority here but I didn't notice any degradation in my ipad 3 performance, I will hang on to it at least an extra year or so.

Apples decision to keep selling three devices with a5 processor means at least one more year of updates

Thanks for the input guys.

Since I would like to have Pages, Numbers, Garage Band, etc., and they come free with a new iPad, it makes sense from that perspective to get the Air.

I will see what the Black Friday specials are, and if I find a decent one, I may just jump on one. Hopefully I will get a half way decent price for my newly refurbished iPad-3.

if you are using the ipad for long term, the ipad 3 will be missing future ios updates sooner than the ipad air

In that case, he could keep the iPad 3 going until it's completely run into the ground/ no longer works with latest apps and then plonk those benjies for whatever is the latest machine is at that time (Air 2/ 3.. ) and get an even longer usable lifespan for the same amount of money spent. :)

Both my wife's and my iPad 3 sold for $750 combined, so in 12 months the only cost about $25/month to own. Out the money towards the Air which should hold its value very well.

I upgraded from the 3 to the Air and I thought it was a pretty big upgrade. So much faster, and so much lighter and smaller in my hands despite having the same size screen.

I upgraded from the 3 and am happy I did. I only really use it to play some occasional games or browse the web/Facebook while I'm walking on the treadmill at the gym (like I'm doing now), going out to eat at a restaurant by myself, or sitting on the toilet at home and enjoying some good old crapper time lol. I find the upgrade perfect for all those reasons. It's your money. If you have enough to spend on one, do it!

Ps: it makes treadmill time go by really fast. Been walking uphill on the treadmill for a good 45 minutes so far. Sweating my butt off but didn't even realize I was on it for this long until right now. I think I'll go another 45 minutes :)

I never seen people on the treadmill holding an iPad at 24 hours Fitness! That is very interesting! :apple:

Never owned an iPad 3 and I think it is worth upgrade because Apple is no longer selling iPad 3 so think about it. :apple:

Yes!

I upgraded two weeks ago, and it was definitely worth it, mainly because the lighter weight of the Air (and slighly smaller size) makes me more willing to carry it around and use it. Admittedly, I had a pretty solid (read "heavy") case on my iPad 3 and just the Smart Case on my Air, but the weight and usuability differences are real and significant with the Air. People say that the Air is what Apple hoped to have released two years ago, and I have to agree. It's great.

(Yes, I know all the complaints about the RAM, iOS 7, the lousy screens, etc., etc., but I have had no issues with mine.)

No. Not for me at least.

My main use of my Air was web browsing and research. Safari and other browsers crashed constantly so it was near useless for me.

Everything else was much better.

I returned it and am using my 3 again. Once 7.1 comes out I'll might buy one again or an rMini. Haven't really decided yet.
