    Hello,

    I have a Mac Mini (2 x 2Gb DDR3 1067 MHz) running Mountain Lion Server.

I've been told that it is possible to upgrade the memory to 8Gb but, I haven't been able to find the 4Gb DDR3 1067MHz modules. Instead, I've got a couple of 4Gb 1333MHz modules (see picture).

Can anybody tell me if these will work on my computer as they seem to be faster?

    Thanks.

if you have a 2010 mac mini those will most likely fail to work.

I have many 2010 mac minis and they do not like 1333 ram.. I have never had a pair of 4gb 1333 sticks work in a 2010 mini for more then a few days.

    these will work

    same as these

the samsung below are best but I do not know the seller

Thanks a lot for the reply.

It is actually a late 2009 model.

Would it work on that one?

    Thanks.

well most likely no. but the 2009 mac mini needs a firmware upgrade to use 8gb ram. it was actually a little less choosy then the 2010 about ram. once again when I did 2009 upgrades I used[ pc3 8500 = 1067/1066 ] ram.

    not [pc3 10660 = 1333] ram like you have. I never tried 1333 in the 2009. I can only say I tried 1333 in the 2010 and the mini said f u.

I can say that the 2009 rejected pc3 8500 1066/1067 ram less then the 2010 does. the 2010 has proven to me it is a P I T A with ram.

    Hi,

I will definitely try to get the 1067 Mhz and return the other ones.

Do you know how to do the Firmware upgrade you mention?

    Thanks again.

this is for 2009 mac minis and ram.

    print all instructions.

    never power down.

don't lose power in the middle of it. I have a ups but as long as you don't do it in a storm you should be good.

If you are near an apple store I would think they may help you to do it if you bring it in.

If it's an early 2009 model, it may need a firmware update, but not if it's a late 2009 model. The update, if needed, will show up in Software Update.

But 1066MHz RAM all the way. The 2009 minis were picky with RAM speeds.
