I wonder is the original jump better than the iPhone upgrade program?

JOD with T-Mobile last year was through the phone. It was actually very simple. I upgraded from 6S to 6S+. Hope it's as easy this year to preorder it. I'll stick with my 128GB since I don't run out of memory. Most of my stuff is in the cloud (iCloud, Plex, and Spotify). Only thing on my phone are mostly apps. I still have 36GB free lol. Can't wait for the Apple Watch. I'm more exited for that than the iPhone 7 Plus.

Topping this thread to find out how things worked out for everyone here. Asked this same question in a newer thread, but would love to hear from the folks here who upgraded via AUP with T-Mobile.

I’ve been with the Apple Upgrade Program since it first began in 2015. I was with AT&T at the time, and purchased my iPhone 6s on launch day and enrolled in the program. Then, in 2016, I traded in my iPhone 6s and got an iPhone 7. Also with AT&T, and also on launch day.

Earlier this year, I switched to T-Mobile. I kept my original iPhone 7 and just put a T-Mobile SIM in it, so I’m still eligible to get an iPhone 8 on launch day via the Apple Upgrade Program.

There is an Apple retail store right next to my apartment.

Will I be able to reserve a T-Mobile iPhone 8 for pickup on launch day at an Apple store when the pre-orders open at 3am?

I need to physically go to an Apple retail store onlaunch day regardless because I need to trade in my iPhone 7 and pick up the iPhone 8...but I wantto make sure I’m able to at least reserve a T-Mobile iPhone 8 for peace of mind.

Anyone have any info about how this T-Mobile “instore only” thing will work for someone in myparticular situation?

I just posted on the other thread about this, but if it works the same as last year, you'll be able to reserve a time to come in on launch day to trade in your iPhone 7 for the 8. You just select the carrier and model you want (including T-Mobile), then select the time you can come in (if any are still available), and you'll be good to go. The only issue is signing up as a NEW IUP customer.

Awesome! Thanks for the info.

That was the case last year- is it still the case for this launch? If so- That's a bit insane. Thats bascially saying you can't use the system if Tmobile is your carrier?

Why does T-mobile not allow to buy a phone through the apple app? you can only buy it full retail or unlocked, is their a reason? someone should email John CEO about it

What is the reasoning behind not being able to reserve an AT&T phone for use on Tmobile? via apple.com
