The Hitachi 5k500 is 1.7W while seeking and 0.5W low power idle (I don't know the average. It is somewhere between 0.5 for low power and 1.3 for active idle).

The Seagate 7k500 or 7k320 are 1.55W while seeking and 0.67W idle average.

The seagate is a better drive in terms of speed and power use.

Brop, real-world experience puts Seagate as the worst of the bunch and Hitachi as the best for power. The 7200 isn't even really any faster than the 5400 Hitachi:
