By the tone & answers in this thread I don't think anyone has a clue. You're talking about a precision made Apple laptop. While many of you may buy them just to play with, these computers were designed by skilled engineers. You don't have to be concerned, the keys will not scratch the display. It's every bit as durable as any other.

It looks like your going in the wrong direction. I would simply pack it up and head down to the Apple Store and explain that you would really like to exchange it for the anti glare model. Stranger things have happened and they just might let you pay the difference. Just how far past the 14 day period are you?

You'll need a CoolShield screen sleeve if you go with the Matte/Anti-Glare.

The first time you close it with the sleeve on and then open it back up, you'll see the impression in the material that the keys made.

.

I have the HR-Anti glare 15" and haven't had an issue with the keys touching the screen when closed.

The keys are nearly flush with the top of the base and the screen is inset in the silver bezel which is further inset by the rubber edge going around the border.

If anything the glossy displays would be touching more so than the antiglare.

The antiglare screen is easier to scratch, but not any easier than every other laptop with a non-glass screen.

I agree, my screen doesn't touch either, I love it

How do you know they don't come in contact with the screen?

How do you explain the imprint of the keys into the screen sleeve?

Because I type on the my keyboard with my fingers. If the keys would touch the screen, there would be dirty spots on the screen ( since our skin has fat/greece ).

If you add a layer thick enough between the keys and the screen, ofcourse the sleeve will make contact.

The glossy has even an extra layer of Glass on top of it and the Macbook Pro closes fine. The Anti-Glare screen is more deep, so no way it touches the keyboard if a Glossy screen closes fine.
