It's funny how people criticize Apple for releasing products every year, and now we have people arguing about how the next iPhone refresh has not come upon us yet. :)

I think part of the issue is that we (I) got used to the cycle, and expected the latest device to be in my grubby mits by now :p

Really makes me wonder what the hell Apple has been doing for the last year.

OS X Lion.

Rumour today says that iPhone 5 will be released on Sept 5th in the US and a month after in Europe.

Quite annoying we have to wait an extra month, but at least we'll know what we're waiting for. Hopefully iOS5 will be released world wide on sept 5th...

I would think a mammoth company like Apple could afford to have more than one project going on at a time.

They do, but thats not how Apple works.

They have small software engineering teams who hop from project to project, this will result in slower upgrade times but it also results in rock solid hardware and software.

Rock solid software? Yes. Hardware? Unless spending 3 grand a year (or so) is in your wheel house, then I would say nay.

Also see 3.5" screen for 4 and a half years.

I'm fine with waiting a little longer, but not 2-3 months. My contract is up August 25 and this android phone is killing me.

The next iPhone is going to be worth it, and just because Apple didn't **** up like last year doesn't mean that all the next iPhone is just going to be slimmer, lighter, etc. I just came from Android to the iPhone 3GS because I can't stand that OS. I was sitting with an LG Vu for over a year so don't be complaining about having that "old" iPhone 4.

Sorry you didn't like the OS but if you haven't had your hands on a Galaxy S2 yet then don't judge because LG doesn't know how to make a phone.

Coming from a big "Apple Fanboy" iOS is vastly superior to Android for its smoothness and stability. If you're into phones for top of the line hardware and highly customizable (has its downsides as well) operating systems then Android is for you.

Me? I friggin' love my iPad. I love it so much I feel like I neglect it for my iPhone 4 because its more "convenient." So the second the GS2 hits the United States I'll have an iPad under 1 arm, and an Android phone in my other hand. :)

I've finally given up and decided to move to the Galaxy S2! My reasons were financially motivated in fairness (sold my iP4 for £300, SGS2 was free and I got £150 cash back).

I have to say the first few days I wasn't sure, but now I've customised it to be a big iPhone (using the Suave HD icons), which is blasphemous i know, and added some custom launchers I am absolutely loving it. I know I will still want the iPhone5 when it's released but for now I'm very happy with the deal.

I still have my iPad and iMac so I'm not totally "out of the club" ;)

I don't get the major angst or "wanting to jump off the ship" if Apple doesn't announce the iPhone 5 by such and such date. It's not going to kill you to wait and see what they have to offer. I for one am sitting around enjoying my iPhone 4, waiting to see what the iPhone 5, HTC Vigor and Samsung Prime have to offer me. May the best phone win. But I feel no need to jump right to the next thing if Apple doesn't hurry up.

If you are happy with it then that's good but me personally I would of waited to see what the 5 would be like

Plus iOS 5 will be really good

Be patient. If you've had your iPhone 4 since day one, wait a little bit freaking longer if you want ios.

If you don't care about the OS or happen to like android, and won't have a heart attack when your "SUPER FAST AND NEW" HTC ANNIHILATION gets eclipsed by the HTC ANNIHILATION 'S', just a week later....then go elsewhere.

Personally i think the android market is just ridiculous. they'll forever be trying to get one over on the iPhone with 1000 different phones, to apples 1 phone per year. and it just doesn't happen.

Totally agree with OP. If it's a slightly bumped iphone 4 with a new name, it's absolutely not worth a 2 year contract.

However, add a bigger screen, and a healthy performance boost? Shut up and take my money.

Or else an Android phone will.

By black Friday the whole holiday lineup of androids and the new iPhone will be available. I would hold out until November to make a decision.

Fair enough, I'm glad you enjoy it. This is however my preference and I'm happy I made the switch. As mentioned, finance was a part of it (getting married need all the money I can get), and it would have cost me £150+ for the upgrade plus another two year contract so I've taken advantage of the S2 offer.

I have to agree that the Market Place isn't yet up to the standard of the App Store, but I managed to download 90% of the apps I used on the iPhone to my S2, with some of them being free where I'd paid for them on iOS (granted they're ad supported).

Not trying to win anyone over, just sharing my experiences.

I was looking forward to iOS5, but now I can see that Android already has pretty much all of the features anyway, so no great shakes.

I will say that imo iOS is the better OS, it's just more..polished..and has a nice uniformed layout (all buttons etc are the same throughout apps).

I've been thinking of moving to the Samsung Galaxy2 as well if the iP5 is just a "S" version. What I'm most concerned about is battery life. How has it been for you so far using the SG2?

Honestly I really like the SGS II and if it were available on Verizon, I'd be using one right now
