You can feel the difference in your hands but hard to really tell much of a difference after wearing either for a short period of time.
Athletes notice weight in motion. It is not so much the static weight you notice as the tug on your wrist in constant motion.

This is something I'm certainly thinking about. Even though I'm very picky about buying a watch second handed.

and you'll get less for your sport. so you might be out the same money and have a SS watch the same age, but you won't have had as much use out of it.

if it's worth it to you cost wise, get it now. if not, it's probably going to be the same cost factor in a month, three months, 6 months etc and why would the answer be different then?

Oh I agree with your assessment and feeling the difference. It's just so petty (not you). The difference is 7 ounces. People see 50grams versus 30grams and think it is a lot but it is 7 ounces. 20grams is less than one ounce of water which we can sweat in 5 minutes working out. I consider myself an "athlete" and the weight is insignificant. Much less than the most popular gadgets real athletes wear on their wrists. It's also much less than what many carry when going for a run with wires headphones and armband. Now, if only Apple Watch added gps and was very accurate, it would replace so many more much heavier gadgets on people's wrists and armbands and wired headphones.

Here is my vote for adding GPS to Apple Watch 2. It does not have to be active all the time, just have it come on when I am wearing my Watch without my phone in my pocket. Or, make it even more limited by adding an option in the Workout App and other third party Apps to use the GPS (or not) when they are active. Similar to the Power Saving mode for the Workout App today.

I do not monitor my heart rate today when I am running, but I am willing to use some of my precious Watch battery for a decent GPS experience so I do not have to carry my massive iPhone 6P. (My large phone was one of the drivers for buying the Watch in the first place...) Silly, I know.

I'd say wait until you can get the Apple Watch 2. However, if you really don't think you'll get the 2nd version you'd probably be happier with the stainless steel one since you can return it to "like new" condition any time you want. I've been delighted with how metal polish can buff out any scratches in the metal and the screen is scratch free after eight months. In fact, I think this watch screen will look perfect forever.
