4k 60fps was a solid selling point for me...coming from a 6s...bigger screen and also no more actual physical button...iphone X..ill wait two years when the kinks are worked out..

The 7+ 128 is actually 769 btw - being in a similar situation I think I have finally settled on going from 6+ to 6s+ as a stop gap for 12 months until we know where the line is going. Saving the £120 now will go towards a potential 'XI+' next year if such a device is released, and if not then probably either a reduce priced 8+ or the 8s+/9+... would go 7 but like I say it's a bit of a waste when I will probably be looking to upgrade again soon (and I know I will even if I sprang for the 8+ now ;))

If you are asking what I would buy...get the ip8+ if you can afford it.

Otherwise, the 7+ at the much lower price.

So I went on a week's holiday and came back on Wednesday. After how my phone barely keeps charge and was incredibly annoying, I was pretty apprehensive about going away for a week (particularly as I flew solo and kinda wanted some way of communicating with people back home). I already had 3 power banks at work that I'd continually charge at work so that I wouldn't get stuck with a sudden complete loss of charge.

Weirdly, the night I got back home - it died and I plugged it in, fell asleep for 3 hours, woke up and it was STILL charging so I was like huh British luck... but it charged and turned on after about 15 minutes of charging from a power bank. So I was like okay, not the end of the world. Unfortunately I had a busy Thursday and Friday this week and despite telling myself I'd go home (I have a long commute) and copy across all my data, I just didn't get round to it and was going to do it yesterday - when I woke up and it had bit the dust!

My point I guess here is to warn you that if this happens to you, get your data off ASAP. Don't make the same mistake I did :p

Wireless charging is a biggie to me too, the port gets riddled with dust after years (not sure if IP67 makes a difference to the charging port retaining dust?) and cables never last. I'm going to go with the 8+, just need to decide on storage, I wish 128GB was an option.

Hopefully iCloud has that part covered for me, but I'll keep an eye on it nonetheless :D just a few more weeks...

Op same boat here, launch day iPhone 6 Plus also with a broken screen. Although my battery is still pretty epic I'm ready for a change.

I'm either going cheapest route with a 7 plus and save some cash. Or all in with a iPhone X just not sure yet.

I'd considered a second-hand one but I'd much rather have a brand new or refurbished one, I'd much rather have it opened from fresh at this point in time. A case is really a no-go for me - I love the feel of it without a case and it took 2.5 years of use with my iPhone 6+ to damage the screen or back of the phone and I'd hardly say I'm the most careful person, I dropped it many many times over those first 2.5 years. I'm kinda worried that with a glass back though that it's going to be a lot less durable to drop

I like the feel of the iPhone but I just find it too slippery without a case, might not be as bad with a glass back though. I never used a case with the 4 or 4S

I wouldn't buy the 7+ at full price because apple is taking the piss with the price for a 1 year old phone that is superseded by a slightly more expensive 8+ with much better specs. You should be able to get a second hand 7+ in top condition for about £420-520 depending on storage capacity instead of going brand new for £670 - £770 (32gb or 128gb).

You have then saved a few hundred pounds and you can see what apple do next year pricing and lineup wise. If nothing interests you then the 7+ will still be a brilliant phone with pretty much all of the best features of the 8+.

I also have a 3 yr old 6+. My battery is ok but it bogs down sometimes to the point that I have to reboot it. After much deliberation, I chose the 64GB 8+ over the 128GB 7+. I use Dropbox to manage my photos, so I'll manage my space that way. I bought AC+ and plan to go caseless. Can't help you with the camera. I think both are good phones.

Where can you get a 7+ for such a low price?

eBay, gumtree (UK version of craigslist as far as I can tell)

You just have to be patient and ask lots of questions to make sure its in good condition, not too old etc.

I’m going to suggest you go all out. If photos are your main concern, the new iPhones do support HEIF so if primarily take photos, you can store twice as much on a 64gb iPhone 8+ than a similar storaged iPhone 6 which can allay your apprehension about going with 64gb. This will make 8+ just 50 dollars more than a 128gb 7+ (though 7+ is also capable of HEIF).

I’m just saying, you can still manage your photos through the cloud on worst case scenarios. Get the newer model and enjoy your 3-year cycle.

I have a 64GB 6 Plus and am going for a 64GB 8 Plus.

Initially I was looking at a 7 Plus for £669 but 32GB isn't enough storage as I use about 40/45 on average which requires me to go 128GB for £769. But for an extra £30 I can get an 8 Plus with 64GB and have the latest version of iPhone.

That was my reasoning for getting the 8 Plus. If the 7 Plus had been 64GB for £669 I'd have got that one.

I am looking forward to the dual camera, faster processor and wireless charging on the 8 Plus. It will also be nice to have a phone that doesn't have a smashed screen, broken battery and an intermittent USB port!

Big upgrade for you, that 3GB of ram will be a god send.

In the same boat as the OP, (iphone 6 plus 64gb from launch), however I got the dreaded "touch disease" in May 2017 and after a bit of complaining with Apple I managed to bag a refurbished iphone 6 plus 64gb for free.
I'm in a bit of a quandry as I was sorely tempted by the 8+ 256gb but as its £950 I thought what the hell why not go for the iphone x for £200 more. Like many here I fully agree the gen 2 x model will be a lot better (similar to 6 going to 6s)
To top if off I really want to upgrade my ipad air to the new pro 10.5. My fault for buying apple kit at the same time as it means a whollop to the wallet when I need to upgrade both!

My use case is predominantly web surfing and movies. Should I either:

1 - stick with the 6+ till next year?
2 - buy the 8+
3 - buy the x

background - the 6+ works fine, but it is a bit slow. Also I do love upgrading to the latest and greatest.

Your thoughts?

To be honest, that definitely allays my concern. Apples upselling attempts with the removal of the 128GB storage option I find in pretty poor taste - whilst I really want more than 64GB, I'm reluctant to handover another £150 for the privilege of it, out of principle - I just don't see how they can reasonably justify removing the middle ground. I've always had the highest capacity option, but this move on their behalf I find really cheeky.

Is there something similar applying for videos?

To be honest, I still have my 128GB iPad mini, so I can use that as secondary storage if need be

It also applies to videos. Same quality, half the size.

If you can swing the extra 200 the iphone 8+ is a substantial upgrade over the 7+. I think you will be blown away by the 8+. I am looking to go from a 6s to an 8+ 256 gb.
Question for you?
Why did you choose 8+ over iPhone X (just Curious:))

I am going for iPhone X 64 GB silver
