I've got a third gen iPad I've had since launch and an iPhone 5 just a few days away. Two days ago, I wasn't overly fussed about the 4th gen iPad, after all I just bought an iPad seven months ago, so why should I upgrade?
Then I realised I'll never be able to have one dock that works as long as I have devices with two separate connectors. Sure, there's adapters, but why pay thirty bucks per adapter when I can have a new device for a hundred thanks to Apple's high resale values? Not to mention the fact that after using an iPhone 5 in store, my iPad felt like a bit of a dinosaur in speed by comparison.
As pissed off as I am about my device being outdated sooner than usual, Apple has no obligations here, and I may as well bite the bullet if it's not going to hit the wallet much. I'll certainly be cringing the whole way through, but in the end, I'll have the matching pair of devices that saves me a pain in the ass.
