Soooo...curious. Why collect iPhones of all things? Especially brand new ones that you will admittedly purchase, leave sealed in their boxes, and then I assume place somewhere in your iPhone display case? Do you not feel a certain amount of weirdness that your hobby robs at least one person the use of said iPhone? I mean, they aren't manufactured to be showpieces and, don't get me wrong, I get the argument that there are YouTube sites that buy them new and put them in blenders, do drop tests, and attempt to mutilate them with varying levels of hardened knives and whatnot right out of the box. Personally I find those sites pretty gross and worthless and almost see you as some sort of anti-them.
Basically, my impulse was to **** on your odd collection hobby, but I've put some thought into it. So the question is why not a YouTube channel of your own? One where you document your journey from purchasing the newest and most expensive iPhone to placing it on the shelf? Basically an anti-unboxing. Sounds click-batey enough to me. Also sounds more interesting than just watching one get destroyed.
I don’t expect anyone to understand my hobby and to be perfectly honest I don’t care if some people think this is absolutely crazy or stupid. For one thing it is not your money going into this collection. It is my money and this is something I have been doing from my first iPhone so I have been collecting them rather than trading in like most people do.
You don’t have to agree and that is okay. You can even make negative comments about my collecting these devices but then you’re doing this based on your views not mine. What you see in my 12 mini and 13 mini was started in December when I made the decision to expand on my collection so all the 12 mini’s and 13 mini’s are all pre-owned devices I never purchased brand new. You said your initial impulse was to **** on me for my “odd collection”. Well . . . with regards to that comment, that’s completely on you then and I don’t need anyone’s permission or concurrence to build my collection.

not everyone is into collecting iPhones . . . especially at this scale
but that does not mean it is a stupid thing to do. People build collections of their own over time. Look at people who collect stamps, coins or even cars and have themselves a very nice collection. In my case I have built what you see in five months. That includes everything you see inside those shelves. I did this because the devices I have won’t end up in some landfill and will all be maintained in excellent condition as I also maintain their battery health while in storage. At least what I have won't be deliberately destroyed like how some of these YouTubers have done, now I think that is stupid but that is my opinion. Deliberate destruction of a perfect iPhone is what prevents others from having that device. This is not what I am doing here . . .
People have commented regarding my hobbies to make a YouTube channel but that in itself presents more work that honestly I don’t want to put into when I am focusing on these devices, my turbo Porsche, M3 and my John Cooper Works Mini. As for your comment regarding whether or not I feel some kind of weirdness over having my collection by robbing people of having these iPhones . . . obviously already judging me
and not knowing anything about me or the condition of these devices I have built my collection on. The majority of what I have were not purchased brand new and were purchased from Amazon.
I don’t need to justify to anyone why I built my collection or how I built it. I just shared this because someone asked if I was a reseller, which I am not. I am a collector building a nice iPhone collection
just the way I want it and seeing this collection every time I go into my office brings me extreme satisfaction. At the end of the day that is ALL that matters. If you want to hate on me for having this collection and for other readers of this post, if you want to hate on me, then feel free to put out that negativity. At the end of the day I am free to do what I want with my money and time.
I’m sure you have hobbies but perhaps you don’t have the finances or time to be able to pursue your hobbies to the level I have with my hobbies. As long as you are happy that’s all that matters. This is my point. Don’t hate
but appreciate what others have built . . .
One last thing . . . I understand people doing destructive testing on these devices but I find those videos these YouTubers are making just shows just now much they are wasting their money and THEY are the ones you should be upset with as
THEY are the ones denying someone a chance of buying a brand new iPhone
that they deliberately destroyed to get activity on their videos. The iPhones I have acquired are several years old and discontinued and are found in the “used market”. Those are the ones I have primarily focused on. The Air and 17 Pro I currently have are cycled with my 15 Pro as my daily iPhones.
Yes
I will continue buying new iPhones going forward but I can now focus on specific ones rather than buying one every year and for those future purchases I can leave them sealed in their packaging because at this point
