The iPhone also has a RAM from the 1800's. It refreshes like crazy. You'll never be able to do two things at once.

As much as u would want to put down OP, he actually has a valid point which has been discussed numerous times since the launch of iPhone and iOS.

Simply put, there is NO WAY to select a "regular file" when you click ANY file upload button on a page in Safari. Hope that clarifies what he means. In most cases, it will bring up the Photos app to select a Photo.

What baffles me most is that Apple can simply alter the API to help link this to iCloud Drive instead of just Photos and this problem is solved but NO, typical Apple working their own way.

I use both my iPhone and iPad as extensions of my work PC and have no issues getting done what I need to. Is it different from Microsoft - absolutely yes but not in a way where I ever feel constricted or in jail.

It's quite obvious that the iOS system doesn't meet your needs so you should really look for an alternative that does.

My main question was how have we been getting by all this time. I can tell you how I've been getting by. I used the free version of iUploader. It kind of works like a charm before the 30 days runs out. It's the only way I can send online faxes without using an app.

How have I been doing multiple attachments in email? Well by golly there's an app for that too. It doesn't work all that well like you would like but if all else fails I just end up sending 2 and 3 separate emails.

Needless to say, I wouldn't have to do this with a simple change to safari.

It's MUCH MORE effort on my part. You'll be sweating to do something simple.

It's had to be a work around for app developers and their websites. Trying to make it convenient for iPhone users, who need to download apps to get these jobs done.

But now that you mention it, what IS iCloud Drive? I could've sworn that they would've done the logical. Allow you to work with your own files. But they don't?

Huh??

If it doesn't do that, then what DOES it do?

I use Dropbox and workflow to save files and YouTube videos by just pasting the link into the app.

This is a limitation with Apple. Their Safari and Mail apps are inferior to the apps you can download. See look. All of the other competitors allow this functionality in a mail app. But not Apple apps. Bloat ware.

If you thought Gmail was great for attachments, you'll be really happy with Outlook. You can pull files from anywhere. iCloud Drive does nothing

Seems like many previous threads on this type of subject would have already addressed it all for those who actually truly cared about this.

So your issue is not with the iPhone, since, as you admit, there are apps that do what want; your issue is with some of the stock apps of iOS. That was not at all your concern in your original post, as far as I can tell. People answered your question about how to upload files and you changed the goal-line to target Safari and Mail.

Standard MO for nouveau-apple.

Actually no, Safari and Mail was always the target of my aggression. What am I supposed to do, throw all of those stock apps into a "Trash" folder? Neither Chrome or Safari allow you to upload files.

These apps have not progressed to meet users need. In fact, the only reason people are using them is because they have to. If Apple apps needed to be downloaded in the App Store, they would have 1 star and nobody would download them.

But it's okay isn't it? We'll get these abilities in iOS 10. That's surely what we're waiting for.

This thread seeks to find out why such simple tasks that should've been possible since the release of the iPhone 4, has not happened, and how have people been getting by all this time.

Some people choose to ignore a problem until it gets solved eventually. I like to push the issue.

Especially when it makes for more work for me.

So what does pushing it here get in that respect? Just pressing people's buttons?

MacRumors has great visibility. I mean, people read this.

I use Dropbox with their iOS App. Can search for files and send if needed

I think the thing about Dropbox though it it always sends a link to the file instead of the actual file. Which is counterintuitive.

So how does random people online reading it go as far as accomplishing anything related to what you hope it would do?
