I ordered a iphone 6 from AT&T scheduled to be delivered tomorrow between Noon-2pm. As I understand AT&T does not require signature, but leaves it to discretion of the UPS driver. Is this correct?

Put a notice outside saying 'please leave it [designated area] then sign it (match signature with delivery name obviously) and that will be more than enough.

Print your tracking info and sign at the bottom with a note.

Agreed with the rest of the posts. Put your name, address, where you want the packaged placed.. shipping number and your signature. That will be more then enough. I usually tape that to my front door.

Relax, I'm going to be home, I just dont trust the UPS guy to ring the doorbell and stick around more than 5 seconds.

I've done all of the suggestions above, sign paper, leave at apt office, leave with neighbor etc etc. But apparently some senders absolutely require a significant in person.

You're not sitting on the porch in a lawn chair drinking a beer until he arrives? Am I the only one? :D

As I understood in the past, Apple absolutely requires a live signature, but the carriers don't.

If I did that I would be too wasted to use the phone since it would be around 8-9pm or so.

I am usually almost the last house in town to get UPS (between 7-8pm), but being a UPS My Choice member I was able to select a 2 hour delivery window (noon-2pm) that UPS has confirmed.

My UPS driver told me that all iPhones will require signatures. I'm not sure if that is his policy or UPS'. He said - I'm not leaving an $800 on anyone's doorstep.

I don't know, when Apple sends you the "Your shipment is on its way" email, there is a "Pre-Sign for Delivery" button in the email.

I agree with what he said though, no way would I ever do that. People know it's iPhone launch day and they know what the boxes look like.

Interesting. When I called them to ask why I didn't have that option available to me online they told me they aren't doing that for iPhone delivery.

The ninth and tenth character in the UPS tracking number denote the service type as follows:Service Codes:

01 UPS United States Next Day Air ("Red")
02 UPS United States Second Day Air ("Blue")
    03 UPS United States Ground
12 UPS United States Third Day Select
13 UPS United States Next Day Air Saver ("Red Saver")
15 UPS United States Next Day Air Early A.M.
22 UPS United States Ground - Returns Plus - Three Pickup Attempts
32 UPS United States Next Day Air Early A.M. - COD
33 UPS United States Next Day Air Early A.M. - Saturday Delivery, COD
41 UPS United States Next Day Air Early A.M. - Saturday Delivery
42 UPS United States Ground - Signature Required
44 UPS United States Next Day Air - Saturday Delivery
66 UPS United States Worldwide Express
72 UPS United States Ground - Collect on Delivery
78 UPS United States Ground - Returns Plus - One Pickup Attempt
90 UPS United States Ground - Returns - UPS Prints and Mails Label
A0 UPS United States Next Day Air Early A.M. - Adult Signature Required
A1 UPS United States Next Day Air Early A.M. - Saturday Delivery, Adult Signature Required
A2 UPS United States Next Day Air - Adult Signature Required
A8 UPS United States Ground - Adult Signature Required
A9 UPS United States Next Day Air Early A.M. - Adult Signature Required, COD
AA UPS United States Next Day Air Early A.M. - Saturday Delivery, Adult Signature Required, COD

My tracking number is "13", which means Next Day Air Saver, no mention of signature required. Again I think it is up to the driver.

From what I've been told it's driver discretion.

When I checked yesterday online the 2 hour delivery window was available so I choose noon to 2pm and today it shows up as confirmed.

    ----------

You must be a UPS My Choice member and sometimes it lets you choose a 2 hour window.

How big is your house that you're worried about the UPS guy showing up, ringing your doorbell and leaving before you make it to the front door?

Don't know, are you sure you have the ninth and tenth characters?
Here's the link for the service codes:

Not big, but it has happened before.

I can see why as it will be crazy as it is without making a specail trip to just get to someone else in a two hour window. Good to hear UPS has good sense!

I'll be home, I'm a SAHM, but I'm printing out the release form from Apple to have on hand to throw on my door when I go to the restroom or to lay my daughter down for a nap. Gotta cover all my bases!:D
