Yesterday, we reported that some iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus shipments have experienced irregular movement or delays during delivery between China or South Korea and their final destinations in the United States.

UPS has since confirmed to MacRumors that a small number of deliveries were impacted due to a mechanical problem and weather delay, while it is still investigating the reason for erroneous tracking notices.
UPS experienced a mechanical problem on one flight and a weather delay on another flight containing iPhones. The cargo was redirected, but not in time to avoid minor delays in residential deliveries of these packages. None of the phones were returned to their origin or routed on extraneous legs of the journey to their final destination.

We are still investigating the reason for the erroneous tracking notices. When the packages receive their next physical scan at a UPS facility, the ups.com tracking information will be updated to reflect the next planned delivery date. UPS is working to expedite these deliveries as rapidly as possible. The updated delivery date may be improved and another status update posted. To be informed of latest status, consumers can request text or email notification by selecting the "Notify me with Updates" feature when tracking their shipment on ups.com.
Apple began accepting iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus pre-orders on September 9, and it took less than 20 minutes for supplies of popular models to begin selling out. iPhone 7 Plus and Jet Black models have been most constrained, but some customers originally quoted October to November delivery dates for Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus models have seen their orders ship sooner than expected.

Glad to hear but based on the flights in the US and just sheer amount of time required, I am not expecting much beefore Monday.

So far I'm loving my iPhone 7. Jet Black was definitely the right choice. It's like the iPhone 3G had a baby with the iPhone 4, and she turned out to be a super skinny supermodel with no tan antenna lines. High quality, but all-over glossy deep black. I usually keep it in a case, but sometimes I'll go without a case—mixing it up every now and then.

Meanwhile, I finally ordered my wife that SE since her iPhone 5 isn't doing so well on iOS 10 (especially the Messages app locking up and lagging out of control). I ordered it yesterday afternoon and it's already out for delivery, lol. I didn't even pay more for fast shipping, and it originally said it wouldn't be here until next week.

Yeah not buying that. "Severe weather" when the weather reporting services all say it's in the mid-70s and clear?

Mine is still saying they can't figure out a delivery time. Yet the delivery planner shows yesterday is when it was arriving. Apple: how about finding a carrier that can do this right? My 6+ was a mess like this too.

Here's my tracking as of a minute ago:

Does this mean Saturday available? Or that I can pick up at my hub? Since I originally was going to receive today from apple? It's in Alaska

Me either. UPS needs better communication. Many people posted about calling UPS to see why the shipments were delayed and they got the runaround, with no good answers. The tracking system feels antiquated; missed scans and what seems to be only a few options of status updates.
I understand that planes break down, bad weather happens. But have better communication with your customers! Now that a lot of the shipments are on the move again, the system doesn't seem to be able to determine a delivery date. I need to know the delivery date so I can put the pre-signed paperwork on my door.

wow, i got my iPhone 7 Plus delivery on 9/22 right before it seemed to get even worse for UPS. I'm considering myself lucky! (original delivery window from order confirmation was 9/27-9/29).

My friend had a delivery date on Tuesday for his 7+. Then it got pushed back to Wednesday due to a "mechanical delay". Now today, it says the delivery day is unavailable. When he called UPS they said a plane had an issue in Korea and it was grounded for at least a day. Then it would take at least 2 days to get to him in Florida. His phone arrived it Alaska this afternoon, so it looks like a Monday or Tuesday delivery for him. Nearly a week delay by UPS.

HA! My Iphone 7 Plus is on the same flight! ;)

Apple site says delivery on Sept 23rd, the order details show October 4-10th.

UPS Scheduled Delivery Date was:
Sept 22nd, Sept 23rd, now "Information unavailable"!

Don't want pile on with the "if Jobs were alive...", but between the numerous update and after update to IOS, less and less innovative features and refreshes to the Mac line, and endless logistics problems it really doesn't seem like the same company.

I don't believe a word UPS says. Besides the fact they screwed up royally. Just picked up my wife's phone at UPS CC. Has the exact same time stamps up to Incheon as mine that I'm still waiting for.

Likely they're part of the conspiracy to withhold supply to, you know, stimulate demand.

Yeah, that's it... smh

Plus Jet Black 128gb ordered at 1:30am pst (when the website finally came back online). Ships by October 7th with not a damn bit of communication. Not calling Sprint or UPS because they don't know crap.

The weather excuse is bs. I checked the same sources the UPS air dispatch uses... there was no severe weather anywhere along the shipping routes. If the aircrew was past the allowable flight time then just admit it. No need for making up stuff.

I have found UPS never takes the blame for wrong deliveries or wrong delivery dates. They always always blame the shipper or weather or a mechanical defect. Yet, somehow, FedEx who is just as big has never given me problems.

Exactly what I politely suggested in my e-mail to Tim Cook. I harbor no illusions that he reads everyone, but I'm sure Apple has created software that can grab metadata and tally hot issue words. I find that UPS is almost the worst shipper - only one lower is DHL in the USA.

YMMV

It's watch shipments, too.
My partners Apple Watch 2 as well

It already was scheduled for delivery today - UPS Details (updated):

No mention of the idiots working at UPS making stuff up as they went along to lie to the customers?

Perhaps if people didn't act as if their life were coming to an end due to a phone shipment delay they wouldn't lie to you about it. If I were on the other end I would probably lie as well if some mouth breather was screaming at me over a stupid phone. I wonder if some of you here actually get out much and interact with the world.
