neither has fixed it, I don't think this problem is limited to me. IMO it's something going on Apples end
Why do you "don't think this problem is limited to me. IMO it's something going on Apples end?" Usually when it's something going on Apples end there are few million users complaining.

because several users have complained about it and there was an article on it today. I also know this is not a WIFI issue because everything else loads fine and works well. It's clearly apple

Same here I’ve tried restarting and everything I just left it alone on the same page as the error and it eventually showed up, same thing worked for my ipad

I also have this issue, I've just checked. I never have any problems with WiFi or cellular data. Text in Swedish.

Translation (dialogue box):
”Can't search for update
An error occurred during checkup.
Abort | Try again”

his has been happening on both my Ipad gen 9 and my iPad gen 5. At first I thought it was me... now somewhat relieved it is across the ecosystem...

It's quite obvious its Apples end. I have 2 phones doing it, and I posted a thread on another forum last night and I got an instant reply saying he could replicate the issue.
Its not coincidence that suddenly its being discussed by a fair few on here and elsewhere.

Not everyone is constantly going into updates to check, which is why its not being discussed by millions, which like someone else said its not an important issue unless you really need to update your phone.

I only noticed because occasionally I like to check if my phone is up to date.

Clearly it's an intermittent server issue.

I had this on my iPad today, it persisted for many retries. When I disabled my content blocker (Lockdown, looped in via the VPN feature), the update proceeded immediately. Something to try.

I have been getting that message on the last 3 watch updates. I just wait a day or so and then the update works. Tried
turning off/ on wifi, re-paired, etc didn't help. Letting it sit a day or two worked. My iPhone has gotten this only once
