Just FYI there's been multiple threads here saying that all att tmobile and Verizon iPhone 6 bought from apple stores full price are gsm unlocked. Verizon iPhone 6 is gsm unlocked from the get go, even under contract, regardless of where u buy it. Do people even look at other threads?

I don't trust no one,
When I will see on the Apple store iPhone 6 plus no contract GSM unlocked, then I buy.
like I do every time on the receipt that I am getting from Apple it say UNLOCKED

That is a stock issue, the OP was complaining about an unlocked phone not being available, which isn't true.

Yes its a stock issue, but it has consequences regarding practical access to unlocked phone. If I want a locked upgrade, I can order online and get it in 7-10 business days, but if I want it unlocked I can't.

For any GSM carrier, just order the T-Mobile unlocked phone online and you're golden.

With Verizon, can you not order an EDGE upgrade online and then pay off the financing via your online account and then get it unlocked? Maybe a slight waiting period? I don't know verizon well since their service at home svcks.

Then why even come on this forum to complain if you're just going to sit there and not listen to anyone?

Which part of this option doesn't meet your needs?

Well you should be safe with Verizon then. They state in plain English that they don't lock their LTE phones.

But seriously, T-mobile is unlocked too and so is AT&T if you pay full price. It's one thing to be skeptical about what you read on the Internet, but it's been a few years now. If the phones were locked, it'd be apparent today.

Why we are forgotten by Apple in the US? some of us that need the iPhone to be unlocked, traveling on business frequently. and we want the new iPhone 6plus.
(ATT will not unlock it even if I pay full price.
I always have to wait for Apple to start selling them a month or more later.
WHY Apple WHY.

You can always buy one from Verizon at full price. Comes unlocked automatically. Also, I believe there is a "contract-free" iPhone 6 that you can buy unlocked also. Not entirely sure about that since it says "T-Mobile" at on the page.

I want it to say ATT too

----------

I am listening

"Say AT&T?"

In what way?

The boxes don't have AT&T written on them.

The phone will have AT&T displayed in the top left of the screen if you use an AT&T sim... doesn't matter if you bought it as T-Mobile, AT&T, or Verizon.

iPhones don't have the name of the cellular provider printed on the body anywhere. That's something that Apple told AT&T they would NOT do years ago when AT&T was the only provider for the iPhone.

So... where did you need something to say "AT&T, " exactly?

If u did some research you wouldn't have to listen to us even. It's on various websites. Even Verizon provides this info.

Honestly that's a good question

Again it's like people don't search anymore, hence the multitudes of threads asking if Verizon iPhone 6 is gsm unlocked.

iPhones don't show att til u put the sim in. Just like a Verizon iPhone, or any other iPhone.

If u were listening then why start this thread? Again you could've searched and found the exact info others are saying

Why? It's the same hardware. Put in your AT&T SIM and go to town.

It's like people can't grasp this concept.

I wish. so far they unlocks after two years
I am over 10 years with them never had one request fulfill, last month when I asked they told me to go to the Apple store, It's OK not the end of the world, Apple makes money in any case,

They will unlock it once your contract is up. If you pay full price and get it without a contract it will be unlocked or they will unlock it for you. Since they may be locked if you buy it directly from AT&T I'm not sure if they will unlock it or not if you still have time left on a contract from a previous upgrade, but for sure if you buy it full price from Apple it will be unlocked without you having to do anything.

Thats terrible on their part, they should honor your request and know better rather than telling you to go to Apple store, clearly shows how untrained their Customer Service is.

I'm waiting for the factory unlocked too. I expect it will arrive week of Thanksgiving. That's when the 5S arrived.

As has been mentioned repeatedly in this thread, the factory unlocked versions have been available from day one. They're listed as T-Mobile on the Apple site, but since you're paying full price for it, you're getting a factory unlocked phone (again, as long as you're buying it through Apple, not the carrier).

Also all Verizon phones are factory unlocked whether you pay full price or get them subsidized (again, only if buying with Apple, not through the carrier).

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Apple just lets people who want factory unlocked buy the T-Mobile one rather than advertising an extra model that is the same. Just like most people who want/need an unlocked one have been doing all along.

Verizon ones are actually unlocked even if you buy it directly from Verizon, it was part of a deal with the FCC when they bought some of their LTE spectrum.

Did you buy it from Apple or an AT&T store? I know with T-mobile models the ones from apple are unlocked while the ones from T-mobile are locked. And I wouldn't be surprised if it is the same way with AT&T.

Even if you buy it from a AT&T store, AT&T will unlock it for you as long as you paid full price. There is a limit of 5 per year per customer, I believe.

Buy the Verizon model. The iPhone 5c/5s/6/6 plus all have the same radios as the AT&T model and are fully unlocked.

I will second this. I have a Verizon and put a Straight Talk which is on AT&t and it worked perfect.

Unlocked phones were available on day 1. I have one - bought at the Apple store. What am I missing here?

I bought 6. All unlocked. On day one.

The only issue I see is that Apple gives out ridiculously wrong information about the lock-status of their phones.
