Am I the only one that charges my phone while im sleeping?

I mean I have a plug next to my bed - so I plug it into the mains and let it charge.

It takes all of 2 seconds and I have a full battery in the morning!

Fancy that!? wow!

seriously. i was reading this post with quite the furrowed brow until i got to your post and found logic.

But it's not just about losing battery over night, this issue means your losing battery whenever your not using it. The phone should NOT lost these amounts of battery when asleep regardless of if it's over night or during the day.

Yeah, but that's not really the point. A normal iPhone with a fresh battery will show a full charge in the morning even if you didn't plug it in.

If your iPhone has caught the "phantom battery drainage" bug, it doesn't matter if you charge it during the night while you're sleeping, it will still be stone dead in the afternoon.

Sometimes it happens that an app drains the battery in the background. The telltale sign is that the Usage stats show several hours of usage even though you've only used the phone actively for 2 minutes. Until Apple fixes whatever the issue is, the workaround is to reboot the phone to make sure that all apps have been killed before you put it on standby.

I have just had this, also noticed this dosnt only affect it at night

yesterday at home I noticed my phone wasnt receiving any emails, just got the spining wheel, tried it a few times in afternoon and evening but nothing (did do a force quite by holding the button down for a few secs till it closed)

Never thought any more of it as I was at my mac, looked at my phone this morning, 1 day 1 h standby and 22 h usage, battery was at the 10% warning, restarted phone and it came back to normal

No difference in usage yesterday (perhaps a bit less than normal) and I usually have about 50% battery at this time.

My opinion on what happened is that it knew there was mail to be received and it just constantly kept on trying, could never receive it so usage just went up and up
for info I have
MobilMe - Push
Exchange - Push
Personnal - Fetch
Gmail - Fetch

I have had this happen occasionally in the past and it has been reported in other threads also.

I would go to sleep and when I woke up the usage and standby would almost be equal. Something is definitely stuck running in the background.

What was suggested to me was to turn the phone off and then turn it back on. This has always seemed to fix it for me for that period of time.

I am not sure what is causing it because it has only happened a few times and I could never remember what I may have been using before I noticed it.
