Just curious, how many people use the Quick-Picture/Audio Message features in iOS 8? I tend to find myself accidentally holding the Camera Icon and getting the Quick-Picture feature and the same with the Audio Message.

However, I wasn't sure if people constantly used these features or if they, like me, were not.

Maybe I just have not forced myself to get in the habit but I do not use these features. I forget they are there. Just yesterday I needed to take and send a photo and did it the old way of clicking the camera icon, selecting take a photo and completed everything manually. I forgot I could just snap a photo.

I tried the audio messages for a while but everyone said stop, its annoying. Just send a text. I tried the video and same thing. Everyone just wants a message because the other features felt like voicemail or something.

I don't use ANY of the new features in iOS8. Not the widgets, the third party keyboards, the quick SMS reply (it's too quick and I miss the window of opportunity), or any of the other stuff so inconsequential that I can't even remember what it is. To think, this stuff slowed down the 4S to a crawl and none of it is essential IMO. To me, iOS8 is just a massively more buggy version of iOS7.

You an use quick reply from the lock screen or notification center itself (not just from a banner or an alert).

For me, using these new methods puts me on the spot. If I'm going to send someone a picture, I'd rather not feel like I'm under the gun with holding my thumb down and releasing/sending a message (or whatever gesture it is).

Also, the Microphone is very confusing. For my non-techy friends, they all said they thought it was dictation. And they said if there were going to talk, they would have called the person. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Audio-Messages are handy in certain scenarios, but I don't think it should have a dedicated icon on the Messages screen.

I use the audio feature a lot. I just wish people would ditch CrappsApp and use iMessage (even though they do have an iPhone).

SE Penna.
I used both. However when in my vehicle connected via BT, doing/using audio message does not work b/c its BT connected to the vehicle.

Nope, day one I tried it.
Never again, sometimes I accidentally activate the voice thing, it's annoying.
Feature creep and bloat/clutter.

I've used both, and enjoy the experience quite a bit. Especially the audio portion. It's not my primary use, but I have a couple group chats that I use it for. Definitely convenient.

They have the option to turn that off in 8.3 hope they keep it for the final release cause I turned it off and I'm enjoying it.

I've never used them. Actually, I forget they're there. Sending your voice is what you avoid by sending text messages

I do like how iOS 8 made it easier to add a pic to an iMessage that you recently took. Your recent pics are made instantly available. Nice touch, that.

I have used the Quick Pic ones or twice but the audio messages are pointless to me. I can just dictate in to the phone or call the person. Either which way, less aggravating IMO.

That’s a nice analogy, it does describe my sentiment well.

That's definitely an awesome feature. That is one of many usable improvements they added in Messages (along with Do Not Disturb per thread, consolidating pictures/location etc with the "i" button).

I feel like the Audio Message button isn't used enough to warrant real estate on the Messages keyboard. Especially how to magically to turns to the "Send" button once text is entered. Seems like an after-thought.

I was frequently activating the audio message by accident. I guess it's the way I'm holding the iPhone when I'm putting it away.

I disabled it on my jailbroken iPhone with the NoAudioRecorder tweak.

Really? I'm on 8.3b, I don't see that option in Settings->Messages

Curious, why would it be possible to activate it as you are putting it away, wouldn't the screen be off at that point?

I still go the old fashioned route when it comes to sending pictures/videos to friends/family via iMessage. I also refuse to use the audio feature.
