$35 at Kanex powered 4 port hub OWC it is what I use. About the size of a deck of cards, you remember decks of cards don't you?
(Port 1 will charge things even if the computer is off.)

As an aside... The identical Kanex hub sold by an Apple retailer here in Melbourne, Australia was more than TWICE the price you quoted.

Given that we are closer to the point of manufacture, and that there is virtual parity between the US dollar and Australian dollar...

THAT IS A GIANT RIP-OFF!

this usb 3.0 hub is great

I just put it in to test it today. This is my 2011 mac mini with a discrete gpu. it is only an USB 2.0 mac mini so I will need to test it with my 2012 quad to see how it does 3.0.. But it is flawless as a 2.0 hub.

I just hooked up this hub-

- MAc will boot from it.
- Noticeably slower on boot vs drive connected straight to mac (usb3-ssd)
- Read write speeds a little lower and not as consistent as drive straight to mac
(with hub R/W ~350/250 Direct ~425/350)
- All in all a decent - not outstanding - would not trust for mission critical (audio record drive) but good enough for backups - accessories and occasional booting
-Cheap :) - stop gap for me till Sonnet Express dock is available!
