- If only that wouldn't completely preclude the usage of an external monitor...

Also, way to resurrect a one and a half year old thread.

So I just saw this thread and I purposely signed up so that I could help people out and post a solution that I am currently using.

Also you are still able to use an external monitor because you can daisychain thunderbolt connection.

So to anyone who found my information useful. You're welcome

That suggestion was already presented in this thread, and its a steep price compared to the expresscards available.

I guess ..... Well what can I say.
I am happy with it.

I think the price is fair considering the versatility.
I can use this to add usb 3.0 and a gig-e network adapter on any machine with thunderbolt.

Thanks ron1004

I would suggest the Kanex Thunderbolt to USB 3/eSATA adapter. Its fairly inexpensive and use works. The only downside to using it is you can't use an external monitor with it. If you need to use a monitor I suggest getting a Thunderbolt dock.

- Except the device you linked to doesn't have a port for daisy chaining. So unless the external display you're using is a Thunderbolt display, using the adapter does preclude using external displays.

I also didn't mean my comment in a negative way, so I'm sorry if it was perceived that way.
