And that fits in the adapter?

Yes ... eBay has shells for both the portable and desktop (AC powered) GoFlex Thunderbolt adapters.

There isn't much to them since the drive itself mounts to the SATA connector on the adapter. The shell simply snaps around the drive (SSD or HD) to protect it, make it look like a finished product, and it has a magnet in it which helps secure it to the magnetic adapter sled.

Cool. I might try to get a ac peered one even though it says the adapter I got is powered thru the tb cable. Is there a difference?

The portable "bus powered" one is for 2.5" standard sized drives (as used in laptops), the desktop "AC powered" one will hold 3.5" disk drives such as used in desktop computers, and can also accommodate 2.5" drives with a cheap mounting adapter (SSD or HD).

The "bus powered" Thunderbolt adapters have given me problems when used with older high-performance SSDs larger than 256GB, such as the Samsung 840 Pro and Crucial M4, although they may work fine with newer technology SSDs which have lower power requirements. The AC powered adapters shouldn't have any problems with SSD power spikes.

USB 3 or Thunderbolt

I got a crucial mx100 512 ssd. Hope it works with the adapter I got. It's the newest seagate tb adapter 133 model
