Hey so I putzed around with the editing and got MMS to work using this ipcc. I made it fuzing together the file on page 10 the one from lighter and some of my own editing.

Enjoy.

(I just added .zip to the ipcc file, so just remove the extension)

Well, I haven't had the chance to test yours yet, but I do know that mine seems to be working. I'll test yours within the next few hours and tell you.

I use the internet for the mms because it seems to work. Also on the iPhone plan using the internet.fido.ca uses my data package instead of mms. I think mms might charge money... but this still seems to be working fine.

Okay THIS is strange... with mine, visual voicemail doesn't work, but mms does

With yours visual voicemail DOES work, but mms does not.

Upon further inspection... it seems that no matter what it's one or the other. If the apn is set to the fido-core-appl1.apn then mms will not work.

However if it's changed to internet.fido.ca then Visual Voice Mail will not work

I tried adding them both as well, seems like it won't work either. If you can think of something. I'll try it.

Tethering will be a great option. I travel alot and stay in hotels. I gravitate towards the ones with free internet but still shell out ten to fifteen bucks a day for internet quite often. Depending on how it is priced it will e right for some and not right for others. But, overall, a great plus for the iPhone.

Hey there, Anybody got tethering to work in Austria with T-Mobile ? I hooked up my iPhone to the iPhone Enterprise Utility to check out the Console and that is what it is saying when I open the Network Preferences.

Fri Mar 20 19:04:31 unknown misd[93] <Notice>: CommCenter is not ready (got -2 for traffic); waiting 1 more second(s)
Fri Mar 20 19:04:32 unknown CommCenter[33] <Notice>: Settings not yet available
Fri Mar 20 19:04:36 unknown misd[93] <Error>: gave up asking CommCenter for traffic context ID after 5 seconds (got -2)

Anybody any Idea ? I tried to modify the settings for Germany my settings are attached.

Thanks for any replies.

Hi graphicflyer,

I am in Austria, and since installing .ipcc files that I found on the net, am unable to access Visual Voicemail with T-Mobile.

Have you (or anyone else) experienced this too?

I think we have to create 3 apn settings.. I will look in to it.. its just tough for me because I don't have a fido iPhone.. I have rogers... =)

Well my email address is drrules @ gmail.com so fire away and I'll test them.

In mine, I thought I had 3 apns... it's really weird.

Edited: Which would be really good because I just updated to 3.0 Beta 3 and it seems I can't change the settings under cellular data... so it's one or the other....

okay good. I thought I was the only one. I upgraded to 3.0b3 and trying to get to the network settings just crashes the settings app. tethering works and MMS doesn't seem to using this file:

We are paying for 'unlimited' data. AT&T let us do what we will with what we are paying for!

It would be such an impressive move you'll sell even more.

I'd say in my experience Hotel wifi works about 50% of the time or less.

Sorry if this has been answered but how do i install the Rogers_ca.ipcc file?

EDIT : that was easy, seems to be working to!

If you upload my fido one to your phone it has tethering and mms and it works.

Edit:
Oh, but to check your voicemail you need to go to your dial pad and press and hold 1 visual voice mail won't work with mms for now. Still working on that solution.

Thanks

tethering in beta 4 with ATT

Hi all,

I have b4 on a 3G phone with ATT, i've edited the IPCC file to allow tethering, but voicemails stop showing up (ones that are there work fine).

I have seen posts where it appears that there is a conflict between APN for MMS and voicemail. i dont miss MSS but do miss my voicemail.

is there any solution that allows tethering and voicemail to work on ATT?

thanks,
-graham

Thank you very much and Visual voicemail works also. I have a question. I was told on another board that a Boolean is required to be inputed in the ipcc to enable apn editing for each settings, tethering, MMS, data. Do you think you are able to put that in? I would but I do not have a Mac. Something like APNUserEditable

Well, another day that I'm sitting in a hotel paying for internet. I have my iPhone sitting next to my computer. I just wish I could tether. I know there will be a monthly fee but assuming it's in the $30 range it is completely worth it to me.

Apparently you have to put in the following above every <key>apn</key>

<key>IsAPNUserEditable</key>
<true/>

iPhone 3.0 b5

Has anyone tried beta 5 yet? Does changing the carrier file still work? I can't lose tethering (i get an extra 3 hrs of work done a day).

I'm on Fido network here in Canada and I modified the O2 UK carrier bundle that was posted here. So the tethering menu shows up but when I click on it it says "To enable tethering on this account, contact fido"

3G works in Safari and other programs, MMS shows up in text messaging but gives an error when I try to send it. I attached the bundle I used if anyone can fix it up.

Edit:
DarlokDC, I don't mind testing it because if it does not work I'll just use mine again since it works for everything else like data, text and making calls.

Hey there, I'm also located in Canada but on the rogers plan. However, the steps needed to make the .ipcc file work is UNIVERSAL.
Here is fido's and roger's .ipcc files. I've only tested the rogers one myself but I'm confident the fido one shall work as well.
Note: I've also enabled the ability for you guys to edit your APN settings through the iphone by going Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network. Just in case any problem occur. :apple:
