usb wont pick up iphone, iphone stuck at loading on apple logo screen

no im certain im doing it right, its this damn iphones dock connecter that wont pick up the usb cuz b4 it would take a while for itunes to pick it up but then it stopped and thats when this all happened im thinking of getting the dock connecter replaced not sure yet though
