I just replaced the camera button with ChatGPT Voice and replaced my action button with Apple Intelligence Private Cloud Compute. It turns on the flashlight during sleep focus.
Can you elaborate on how you replaced your action button with Apple Intelligence Private Cloud Compute, and how you use it?

This is another stupid thing. They remove the switch for mute which was amazing and could always tell in the pocket it was on mute. Now, have to just leave it on mute all the time. Wish I could do whatever I want. Like use the photo control BUTTON to do a real AI assistant. And taking a photo with the photo control shutter BUTTON, causes the phone to move and makes for worse photos. Poorly thought out and designed BUTTON.

First of all, there are enough people who don't know that.

Secondly, this may be—just my guess—Macrumors' subtle way of pointing out how terrible Siri is.
The funny thing is Siri came out first. But with Forstall gone nobody could manage Apple’s insights that were ahead of the curve which is rare for Apple and impossibly stupidly run company by Tim Crook.

Good article. Nice to see that there is an option. However I don’t use voice assistants much and currently I have set the action button to identify a song via Shazam.

That button has been the mute button and now that it's customizable, I still use it as the mute button. I don't see that changing for me anytime soon.

You seem so down to earth and level headed..what’s your take on android/google. Do you do your best to avoid them like the plague? It’s still unfortunate they bought YouTube smh…
Don’t avoid YouTube, it’s a fabric of our digital lives at this point.
Do you think it’s hypocritical for Apple to tout privacy as much as they do but then do all these side deals with Google? Most ppl love Google search and use it without giving it a second thought…how unfortunate : ([…]
No. Not at all.

All phones been on mute 24/7 since iPhone 3G, so torch for me. Sooooo much better than on screen which constantly accidentally turns off when looking of something in “the cupboard of doom”.

After trying out different actions, including opening up the trunk…I like the ability to put the phone on mute. That is the default action and that is where it is now.
That's what my action button has been doing since 2023!!! :) go figure!

I made a quick menu based on a shortcut I saw someone else had doneView attachment 2583175

Same! But I did a folder instead. It has less options (because of the two row limit) but it feels like a native implementation.

You can use the Siri button for ChatGPT. Once set up, if you hold down the Siri button and say, "ChatGPT, blah blah blah..." a ChatGPT window opens up with an answer from ChatGPT. Tapping ChatGPT at the bottom of the resulting window opens the app. I'll ask ChatGPT and attach a screenshot on how to set it up. No need for an article. ;)

I used to use the action button on my phone for ChatGPT voice mode, but after a bunch of time, I swapped it over to Gemini Live. Especially after I customized the model to exactly what is most helpful for me, I’ve found my use of Gemini has increased significantly, and having Gemini Live be a button press away is great for when I just have a quick question that I need the answer to.
