did not take long to find an apple doom and gloomer.

Theses machines have issues. The same issues the 2012 did when they were released. Apple did not make a great big out reach about them then and I doubt they do that now.

I have not personally seen any tearing of the graphics.

I see the driver rainbow on boot with file vault turned on.

So what the issues I have no idea. I hope apple figures it out does a recall or if it is software that it gets patched and patched quick

I would give them time to respond before I go all doom and gloom.

But hey I will now be called an apple apologist cause I think they should get the chance to fix it before I hit them with the pitch form.
Haha.. When did I say Apple is doomed? They are raking in cash like anything. I have a 2015 13 inch rMBP and an iPhone 6s. When I am ready to upgrade I would buy an Apple product without second thought if its a solid product. But if you think this Macbook Pro release is not up to the mark, then I wont try to convince you either. This graphics issue is not the only problem with this release. I wont list the other issues as they have been highlighted by thousands of people before.

It's apple job is to test the laptop.

You can't just assemble a computer and release to consumer without testing. Potential hardware issues and software issues.

Components may be good at an individual level but not when integrated together.

It is apple's responsibility. If there are issues with an individual part, it is up to Apple to go back to the manufacturer and seek a solution.

Comment of the day for funniest post. These are AMD GPU's.

It's like people saying it's Apple's fault when they haven't shipped Skylake when Intel themselves say they aren't ready for prime time.

All blame Apple because it's the easiest thing to do. Bless.

Care to explain why, or we should just take your word?
I played with one, and it seemed like a pretty good machine to me.
Yep, amazing how the Dell's are getting great reviews from everybody except one anonymous user on a mac forum.

I have the 15 2016 2.9/1tb/460 and actually I had two of them . I returned a silver for space grey. Both units are not displaying any glitches at this point and actually running fine. I have a NEC 27 inch wide gamut monitor connected and 3 external drives and so on. Photoshop seems to be okay and Lightroom and also a Raw processing program called Capture One. I do have InDesign CS6 and the rest of creative package. I have not tried adobe encoder and i actually took it off my system just now as i don't use it anyway. This all sounds like software conflicts or bad drivers but so hard to say what it is as folks like me seem to be running just fine and than others are having nightmares. I mean i have had two units already and neither one. I feel bad for those that are running into this issue and wish you all good luck. Lets hope Apple finds the root cause so we can all get on with it. I have a huge shooting job in January with shooting, design, multi media presentations and Im really keeping my fingers crossed and bringing a backup Mac just in case.

"It just works."
"You're viewing it wrong."
"Courage."
"This is the best display we've ever made in a MacBook."

Which others have I forgotten?

"We love the Mac."

Your post is encouraging, since I have the same configuration on order 15" 2.9Ghz, 16GB Ram, 1TB SSD and Radeon Pro 460 due to arrive towards the EOM. I certainly hope mine does not have any issues given the money we spend on "high end" laptops that we expect to do "high end" work without failing. I have had MAC's since the Apple IIc onward and this is the first time I am hearing major issues. Given everything is soldered in place how can they expect to repair/replace the equipment. This is a custom order, not sold in stores so if they have to replace it will it be 4-5 weeks?

Considering the price asked this is awful on a 2 weeks computer...

Macs use standard chips that everyone else uses. The premium is just a large profit margin at this point. You aren't getting something tangible of value beyond the software here. I expect no more reliablity then others at this point. People can buy whatever they want just don't expect more quality control or better parts. They are all consumable throw away machines now.

Then again my expensive at the time 2011 MBP that had the graphics board swap isn't surprised by this. You also have USB C, new cables and display interface boards to contend with.

All this cramped into a small enclosure for mm in savings sake. Sounds like an expensive s*** show that I can enjoy maybe in 4 years when my MBP kicks it. This will be before the case is filled with resin to make sure no one can replace anything. There will be many $3000 paperweights incoming after AppleCare runs up. Glad people can swap them and it happened early.

400 comments later and most still dont know by now that it is actually not a hardware issue but 3rd party apps/sloppy coding in these apps and even Apple photos app that is causing these issues.

So no not a hardware problem but another dumb pretty ***** glitch that now needs to be fixed
So if it's the 3rd party apps causing this problem, why didn't they cause the problems with the preceding generations MBP's?

Maybe time for Apple to give up on computers altogether - follow the stupid Burberry bimbo in making the stores look even more empty and create space for new watchbands and bad-sounding headphones. I think they will soon only be a watchband suppliers for other companies making the watches as they will soon fail in all areas which requires any sort of thinking.

Then the question is why Steve didn't paid attention that the next CEO of Apple is as dedicated as him about good products?
Because I don't think he believed that there was anyone else "as dedicated as him about good products". It was a lesser of evils, which is exactly what Apple has become.

A Steve Jobs museum, with a CEO/Lifestyle/MBA curator.

I am aware of most of them as I have one. The thing is parsing out what is just bad software like UI lag and what is hardware.

My gut tells me the issues are most likely software related and again zero excuse for that. I can not believe that with the thermals being this good on this new machine and the machines being this young we are already seeing DGPU heat related solder failures. I just can not believe that. The previous issues creep up like months or even years after being soaked in heat constantly. I know that is how it happened to me the 2012 issues just exploded on me one day out of the blue after 2 solid years of owner ship. The machine IGPU was gimp and had UI lag like no other but it got better.

So I am in hopes apple can fix it. I have till jan 8th to rock this extremely nice machine minus the few glitches.

For the record my 2012 on the current OS also has issues left and right. Like crashing on wake up or random freeze and kernel panic with no report. So apple software QA clearly is living in Cabo Sa Lukas and is not hard at work finding these errors before they creep up in new and old hard ware.

Some people are mentioning it which others are glossing over, but GPU issues with dGPUs have been an issue for a long time now, including when Steve Jobs was still alive. It's actually one of the reasons why I've tried to avoid buying laptops with them in it (thankfully, I don't really do anything that is too graphically demanding). For those who need that dGPU (for whatever reason), I do feel for you.

What concerns me is that this doesn't look like it's strictly a dGPU issue if the 13" is affected too. I've had some laptops before that had GPU issues and I would rather not deal with that again...so I'm going to take a wait and see before committing to the 13" now.

Actually they do sell it in store you just need to actually GO IN a store as it is not advertised or online at all. I bought both of mine this way and back in 2013 the same way. Its a well known secret.

Welp - I just upgraded my early 2011 MacBook Pro plagued with graphics problems to this brand new touch bar model and I think you can see where I'm going with this...

Apple - this is just getting ridiculous.

... youtube links ...
I think I'll keep this post around, to show the fanbois who can NEVER see anything wrong with Apple.

My apologies, and good luck!

Was Apple bought by Gateway computers?
No, Packard Bell I believe.

It doesn't look good for this model. These are Rev A issues, which wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for that price.

A user could potentially have blown speakers and a glitchy GPU. That's a sure way to convince some businesses to opt for other workstations.

I'm sure glad I didn't purchase the latest version for my son for school. Not only do I think they overpriced it but like other have said the quality control has gone down the drain over the past few years. I have had more issue in the past 3 years with my iPhones than with any other iPhone I've Owens's and I've been using them from day one. The past few issues I have had with my apple devices always seem to take place right after the warranty is up and then apple is no bell other than trying to sell you a new or refurbished device. This is the first year I have been pushed to look elsewhere for my electronic devices.

I daily use a 2.9/460/2TB. Been running a lot of photoshop and Lightroom. No issues with those.

However a week or so ago I had the machine freeze while running handbrake and an initial time machine backup. I was vnc'd in, and suddenly the vnc froze. I went to the machine and found it was locked up, fans at max, with the screen completely screwed up (blocky checkerboard, lines everywhere, etc).

Restarted, and had screen flickering, but the flickering formed the boundaries of the two windows that had been displayed when it froze (handbrake and system prefs).

Did smc and nvram resets, etc. Flickering remained. Long call with Apple care and was set to bring the machine into the Genius Bar, but earliest appointment wasn't for 4 days (thanksgiving in the way).

In the mean time, after a day, it fixed itself somehow, so I held onto the machine (figuring it would take weeks to replace the BTO machine, and if the problem reappeared I'd deal with it then).

Since then, I've run about 15 hours of handbrake, and done a lot of photoshop and Lightroom, and no problems.

Keeping an eye on it, though.

That's what I did.
Typing this on my 4-day-old 2015 MacBook Pro 13" (8gb/256).
No glitches and I got it new for $310 off Apple's regular pricing.
I actually prefer the "old" keyboard and having the legacy ports.

A nice "jump up" from my 2010 MBPro (which is still working fine).

The new ones looked nice enough in the store, but I'm happy enough with "last year's model".
Dongle-free, too!

This should be a software issue, since the last beta, my 2013 late 13" has the exact glitches too.
The 2008 iMac had a driver issue. It worked great up to 10.6.2 - Anything after that, and the system experienced beach balls constantly. It was absolutely a kext issue, as the beach balls disappears when you downgraded the OS, or ran windows.

Granted, it didn't effect EVERY iMac, but there is a couple hundred post thread in the iMac section with LOTS of people having the exact same issue. Apple NEVER acknowledged the issue, and waited out the customers. The only difference now is that problems are greatly publicized now. So when I see the fanbois all saying that apple will make it right, I just get a little pissed, as Apple refused to help TWO grandmothers in my family, BOTH exhibiting the EXACT same issue.

So this is MacBook Pro Early 2011 issues all again?

My 2011 MBP ran for 4 years before the dGPU gave out (and it was repaired in 48 hours).

If you like your laptops 2" thick and 11 lbs weight. :p

For those of us who only really need our laptops to be luggable between home & work desks, yes that would be a useful option.
