My husband pulled the IIe out of storage and set it up again a couple of years ago when we moved and he got a bigger home office. It still works! It still runs all but one of his games. The kids are amazed by it. They make fun of it and then get sucked into playing some of his old games (under eagle eye supervision...otherwise nobody is allowed to touch it.).I've been with Apple since the release of the IIe so I am with you. I have seen the ups and downs over the years, that's inevitable with any company. But I have never seen the amount of negative publicity as the last year has brought. I bought a 13" rMBP 2015 version recently to replace a 9 year old 13" MBP and I did it because the recent "update" to me was an overpriced underwhelming release of gear I wasn't impressed with. And I did need to replace the old rig. The fanbois are here, as expected, but it surprises me how many more dissatisfied folks are posting. Yes, we do seem to entering that moment. I am there now.
We gave our 2009 MBP to a family friend and it is still going strong. We have assorted really old and slightly older laptops and desktops from Apple still running well.
But this year has been a complete and utter mess. For crying out loud we switched to Android. That actually shocked a lot of people because my husband was a very vocal hater of Android until this year. I switched first and he followed and was pleasantly surprised. Now we also have Microsoft stuff slowly invading our home and his business.
Come on Apple, bring us back. All you have to do is be what you were, a company dedicated to making the best user experience for your customers. The profits will still follow even if you stop cheaping out on components and construction, like you did on IPhone 6 and caused "touch disease".
