It worked for me..

How big of an issue is that then? I don't get it...It's not that you cannot access the folders. They are just hidden...

for the average mac user, these solutions (i.e. FINDING & putting users & shared in the sidebar) are not practical. for those who visit forums like this...not so problematic.

either way, it's a BUG and needs to be fixed. those folders should be visible, and Find My Mac is (for many), essential.

Since the 10.9.3 update iMovie cannot import media from the /Users directory. It just spins in the lefthand pane trying to access it. I reported to apple via feedback but don't know when it will be addressed. Lovely!

not sure how this relates to this thread...but, i just tried it, and it works here.
try:
rebooting
reinstalling iMovie...
etc.

And your /Users is hidden?

EDIT: I just did the chflags to unhide /Users and iMovie import works just fine. But the next reboot will change that. So it definitely affects iMovie

if you go to the import window at the bottom of iMovie, are you not seeing the Users folder?

also...read thru this thread, there are a number of workarounds. for example, you could put an alias of your users folder somewhere, and point iMovie to that...

Here's a screen shot of iMovie import - you can see the spinning under favorites. I don't like the alias solution. For now, I'll just use the chflags /Users after a reboot until apple fixes the issue.

Nicely done. :D

Kind of lame they don't even mention the fix in the release notes though.

They never seem to do that in x.x.x updates. I find it kinda annoying. You can go to the Apple support site and it will tell you more about the update, but that should be mentioned in SU.
