By now Siri should have a conversation mode so when you ask it a question the next question should be building on what you just said instead of starting over each time. Also the ability to request Siri to do multiple tasks on one sentence.
Nothing about Siri is natural conversation.

Do you know the development cycle and what Apple has in store for iPad os? I just bought an iPad Pro and I’m keeping it, knowing full well what I’m getting.

As I said, the 2018 iPad Pro is way overpowered. What development cycle that STILL makes the 2018 iPad Pro overpowered in 2021?

I like Apple like a lot of you, but it really seems some people just never have issues with what Apple is doing. We heard these same arguments about the trash can Mac Pro that Apple had stuff in the works or up their sleeves. But nope!

I think these people forgot to watch the video below.

Too early to make any judgements. Apple introduced well over 500+ changes this year come on now. Just look at the new weather and map App!

The attention to detail Apple is hitting is crazy.

going through that movie is hilarious

"new" features are listed that are NOT NEW FEATURES that shouldn't be counted as "500 new features"

1. New text for the hello welcome screen.. changing a font on a single page is not a new feature.
2. Continued backwards support for existing supported devices isn't a new feature
3. Pledging to continue support for iOS14 is also not a "new feature"

and these were the first thing things he listed as "new features...".a nd 4. wasn't even a feature. it was a limitation of features based on hardware

i'm not going to say iOS15 is dissapointing. I havent tried it yet and I'm fully on board for a version of iOS that brings a lot of refinement that is needed

but claiming there were 500+ new features in iOS15, and inventing a 49 minute video where your first 5 points weren't even new features, is laughable and is exactly why people laugh at Apple fanboys who do stuff like this.

It is interesting cause Jeff on 9to5Mac somehow finds 300+ features to talk about for 2 hours. Hardly considered underwhelming imo. No idea what other people would actually want.
EVery single one of these youtubers who claim "500+ new features" have listed absolutely inane things that are also not new

putting a new font on your welcome screen isn't a "new feature"

but these youtubers need the fanboy clicks.

Why is Siri still behind then 🧐
For the same reason you are not amazing in every facet of your life.

Apple's strengths are clearly in interoperability, product design, and user experience, but they have thus far struggled significantly in most of the services they've introduced.

As many of their services are struggling and/or far from being industry leading in quality, one can argue that it is then difficult to honestly list 'user experience' as one of their three strengths.

I think you’ll need to find some proof for the claim that ‘many of their services are struggling’. Not Industry leading does not equal struggling.

Apple keeps playing this game and announcing the IPAD as your next computer when they hamper it on purpose as to not to cannibalize their laptop sales. The iPad is capable of being the laptop if they would give it a proper interface / features.

also does the upcoming OS enable or use the memory in the IPAD or still nothing?
I don’t know? Anyone here finding the 6GB ipad to 8Gb you able to run more things in the background with out the app refreshing when you move away to other app or page? Just doing light multitasking nothing really intensive?

But than I hear there is a limit in the OS not allowing past 5GB of RAM so than what is the point of 6GB iPad that alone more RAM?

All I know is I can run MacOS and Windows computers with 4GB of RAM with many things running in the background and it does not refresh the app. And this is a bloated desktop apps not lighter mobile app.

Well any iPad running say 1GB, 2GB or 3GB of RAM it makes sense with such little RAM to refresh the app when the RAM is getting close to the limit but not 6GB and really not 8GB.

If you have the iPad with 8GB of RAM and the browser open with say 12 tabs and note taking app running and youtube playing and it is refreshing there is some thing really wrong and all that RAM is pointless.

It still applies well to Apple's hardware and general software design, but you are right, it does not fit as well into their service design.

Please read everything before making false accusations. Good afternoon:cool:

That there, my friend, is a claim.

Every apple event now is kinda boring, all I wanted was a way to remove the dam home bar which puts me off using my devices as it’s always in the way and I can’t stop seeing it, it would look like so much more clean without it, and for heavens sake change the overall look at least give us 3D apps like big sur the overall flat look since 2013 is boring
is it ironic to comment on the dated look of the OS while posting using a very old Aqua style profile pic?

Overall I’m happy with the new features and refinements in iOS 15. I’m hoping that Apple put some serious effort into stability this year. I’ve had so many bugs all the way through iOS 14. Some of those bugs have been around since iOS 13. So, I’m glad Apple aren’t going overboard with lots of new features.

With that said, I would have liked Apple to make iOS more user friendly for the max versions of their phones. I feel that’s the one thing Samsung have gotten right with their One UI. Everything is so accessible even with one hand, which adds to the experience of owning a larger phone. Split screen would have been nice on iOS too. Oh, and the quick toggles. I would love Apple to allow the quick toggles to actually turn things such as Bluetooth, mobile data, WI-FI on and off.

Apple could have done more with iPad OS too, especially for the M1 iPad Pro’s. They may have some changes to iPad OS coming a bit further down the line.

However! Personally I’m happy with iOS 15. I’m running the beta at the moment which is extremely stable considering it’s only a dev beta 2. Battery life on my iPhone 12 Pro Max has improved drastically when compared to any version of iOS 14.

I am holding a bit of hope that Apple may drop a few surprise’s on us in a later beta or RC.

For what it's worth I can see what they're talking about following their instructions. After looking for a business and tapping on one of the photos if Yelp isn't installed I get an App Store popover to install Yelp and if Yelp is installed it takes me over to Yelp.

one of iPad/iOS's major failings and makes it feel outdated in places.

Apple still has "handlers" scattered throughout the OS that will only launch specific apps, and nothing else

Reddit is the same. following a link to a reddit post on an iPhone will launc your browser, but then will pop up the reddit app if installed. and if not installed, pop up that yo need to install it. This is because pages are allowed to request that you use an app

But Apple doesn't have any mechanism in place for you to override what the specific App is. So even though I Loath the reddit app itself and use Appolo. it is impossible on iOS for me to change the default handler for reddit links to launch Apollo instead.

it creates such a poor experience of either being forced to use a specific app for a specific purpose instead of the one you want, or forced to have multiple apps installed to do the same thing. In my case, I have both the reddit native app installed to handle links that my friends send me. And I have Apollo installed for my casual browsing.

This is a fundamental flaw in iOS.

I flatly disagree with this. Apple's user experience, and the premium the company puts on it for each of their products, is second to none in most respects.

That does not mean that everyone is going to be pleased, because that'll happen every time someone doesn't get what they wished for.

For example, the majority of posts I see here that are upset with and/or disappointed with iPadOS 15 are folks who want to turn the iPad into a Mac.

The iPad user experience has not changed (for the worse, that is).

People expected Apple to give them MORE on the software-side, because Apple gave them MORE on the hardware side (for no extra cost, I might add).

When that expectation was not met, Apple "sucks".

The M1 iPad is OBJECTIVELY the best iPad we've ever had, and iPadOS 15 makes it even better.

User experience and optimisation is still where Apple shines above everybody else. Some disappointing iPadOS improvements doesn’t change that

I think for many it isn't they want to turn it into a Mac or a PC, rather they want something more than a large iPhone.

And the iPad is just that: a large iPhone, but more. Much more. And yet, more similar to iOS than to a Mac.

But what is the main iPad complaints I hear?

No Final Cut.

No "Pro apps".

No "taking advantage of the same hardware that's on Macs".

No "floating windows".

No "real filesystem access".

No "real external monitor support".

In other words, no macOS on iPad.

Again, I get it, and would welcome all of the above, as long as the iPad experience is not compromised.

Hear you however it does lead into the Apple advertisements that the iPad is your next PC.
The Pro apps though I have to firmly blame Apple with the Pro monicur and the massive RAM update for the M1 Pro versions.

Well, I for one am completely underwhelmed. I don’t need a bunch of cutesy “details”. I need a file system that is totally accessible by every app; a file system that I can use how I want. I need consistency in the user interface so I don’t have the displeasure of having to learn a new interface with every app. This was a core philosophy of Mac from the beginning. I need print drivers that are of some use - printing from this thing is horrible - appalling, really. I need real multasking. If this is to be a “Pro” machine then it needs to behave like a pro machine and this OS doesn’t make that possible. Stop with 500+ features and fix the core.

There were a smattering of decent features (mainly the automatic photo metadata stuff) but I don’t think a comprehensive design overhaul any time now (I.e. since at least iOS 14) would be amiss… allowing for some evolution it’s the same basic look as iOS 7, from 2013.
