Yooboa Cover

I love using my ipad2 in bed. This cover is leather and the reverse side has some traction and sits up easily. Mostly though I use rotation lock and read sideways.

It is not as easy as my MBP was though...

I like the lock rotation feature, I used to turn my crt TV on its side which would confuse my casual caller friends who thought maybe the TV had fallen over.

This thread represents the sheer laziness and stupidity of the human population. We are doomed if people actually spend time not being able to hold their iPad in bed. Jesus.
And this reply represents the sheer ignorance and close mindedness of certain people too - do you even own an iPad?

Many games are impossible to play when holding the iPad in one hand, and that aside, holding an iPad above my head for an hour at my most tired point of the day isn't that easy on my arms.

Anyhow! Huge thanks to those with actual serious suggestions and replies, seems like there are lots of options to look at :)

This would be awesome for viewing porn. ;)

---------------------------------------------------------

I usually just prop my head on a couple pillows and rest my iPad horizontally on my chest/stomach and hold it with one or both hands, with my elbow(s) resting on the bed. This is the most comfortable for me.

Kinda like this:

A little too bright for her eyes, don't you think?

I have dropped the iPad at least 2 times on my head and it hurts quite a lot. I just use a pillow to give it a back rest when lying down. When I'm sitting, I use the Griffin 360º stand.

But why would you ever hold the iPad above your head? I can honestly say I've never held it above my head. But it all makes sense now why you dropped it on your face now. Just hold it in front of you and rest it on your stomach.

Not /above/ my head, but just holding it in front of me with two hands.

Also, yes, that's what I was doing when it fell forwards onto me - exactly as you said, had the iPad propped upright using a pillow.

Marware CEO Hybrid

Much more stable than the smart cover (which I have stored in a closet). I watch movies with my iPad2 in the Marware case on my stomach or held by the hand loop. Makes holding it easy (I'm not strong).

Shame on you! What would make you assume such a thing?...Of course that's the first place they go when parents don't take responsibility for monitoring their children's access to media! :D

Huh, what's so difficult?

I just sit in bed, leaning back with my knees propped up, and the ipad resting on my lap.

What I do is I lay down in bed in whatever position seems comfortable at the moment, and I use a technique called "holding" the iPad. I put one hand on either side of the iPad and "grip" it so that it stays in front of my face. If the grip technique becomes uncomfortable, I prop it up on the night stand using the Smart Cover or rest it in my lap.

You sold your iPad because you were incapable of figuring out how to use it in bed? Have you never read a hardcover book in bed?

I would vote you up another point, or a few more, but the arrow button only lets me give you one :(

Exactly though. I use my ipad in my bed 50% of the time of it's usage. Some in the living room, some in the kitchen. I just sit it down on my lap or stomach and place a pillow behind it to prop it up. Or I use the smartcover and prop it up on the night stand next to me to watch something if I am going to lay on my side.

It isn't rocket science.

Or you can try things like this.

I will save my $35-49 though for something else and just stick with my extra pillow method. It has served me well for the last year since owning an iPad, why change what isn't broke.

There is this thing, it has been around for quite some time, called "the gym". It has these things called "weights". Give them a try. You might want to start out with the 2.5 lb dumb bell weights though since apparently you have enough problems with holding a 1.45 lb iPad (given it is the new iPad vs the iPad 2 which is about 1.34 lbs).

Don't get me wrong, I understand that a Kindle Fire or the 7" SGT are lighter, but they are also smaller. Some of us do now want it smaller. I like my 9.7" ipad screen. If they came out with a 7" model I probably wouldn't buy it. It would be great if they did come out with one for other people if they want it but I would probably stick with the 10" screen.

I do everything on my ipad. Web browse, email, some light gaming, watch movies/tv shows, remote into my computer, work, etc... The weight of it never crosses my mind as an issue.

How many +1's am I allowed to give this post?

Am I the only one that prefers to use a nekkid iPad 3? Even in bed?... <cough>

Yup. I have a clear shell on the back of mine and a gray smartcover for the front. I don't like the back getting scratched if I can help it. Plus the clear shell helps provide a little grip to the iPad.

only time mine is nekked is when I am using it with my Logitech/ZAGG Blutooth keyboard

I can use the iPad with Smart Cover just fine in bed. I find that if you are reading, you can hold the bottom with just one hand and use your thumb for balance. If I'm watching a movie, I can prop the iPad on my chest. I also have a RAM Mount so I can attach it to my night table and the swivel arm is easy to articulate.
