Hi there - I'm hoping someone can clarify things for me. Like the posters in this thread I have an ATT business plan (with a Razr V9 - which I plan to return) and wanted to use it with the iPhone without committing to the 2 year contract. Here's what I did:
1. Bought a new iPhone and paid someone to unlock it. Got rid of the sim card that it came with.
2. Loaded my old sim card (without using iNdependence) which has the ATT $19.99 unlimited data plan. Everything seems to be working fine.
So essentially, I have an unlocked iPhone and using my old ATT sim card.
But I have some questions as I noticed that when I log into my ATT account online, they have my device show up as an iPhone (!) rather than my V9. And when I dial 611 from the iPhone (remember that I have the old sim card in there), the options i get all relate to the iPhone!
I have a couple of questions:
1. How did ATT recognize that my old sim card is actually in an iPhone rather than my V9?
2. Did this occur when I hooked up my iPhone to iTunes? Note that it did not ask me to activate anything.. I just went ahead and synced my outlook and music.
Hopefully this doesn't mean that my existing plan has been replaced with an iPhone plan.
Has anyone else noticed this? Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
