I am a bit confused on how to use a T-Mobile SIM card in a Verizon iPad Air. As I understand all you have to do is get an unactivated T-Mobile nano SIM card, replace the Verizon card with it and you can get 200mb of free data per month. I checked on ebay and all of the unactivated T-Mobile SIM cards are cut by the sellers, they are not factory cut.

I called several T-Mobile locations today and none would sell me an unactivated SIM card.My local store did tell me that they could sell me a SIM card activated with 500mb of data for one day, and that I could then change to the 200mb of free data per month. They said all they would need is my iPads's IMEI code.

Does this sound right to you? I would really prefer an unactivated card but I don't trust the ones that are "cut" will be problem free.

You can order a SIM card direct from TMoblie. Right now they are $10 but TMobile often has specials for free or 99 cents. Did you try a real TMobile store or a reseller? You might have better luck at a TMobile store than a reseller.

Thanks for the replies. My local T-Mobile Store was giving me all kinds of answers. They want to charge me $20 for the SIM card and then said they couldn't do it without first activating the card. Then they said it would be $10 if they could activate it with 500MB for one day and they would need the IMEI code from my iPad. So I don't trust they know what they're talking about.

I'll just order it online. They sometimes have it for .99? from their site?

One last question. When adding it to the cart it says:

Activation fee
This one-time charge will appear on your first monthly billing statement.

But there is no amount. I just want to make sure they don't use my credit card info to charge me anything later.

Anyway, I greatly appreciate your help!

Even when they are free you have to furnish a credit card number to get them to ship the sim but no charge comes through on the account. In your case there will be the $.99 charge.

Once you get the sim follow the instruction and you will go to a TMO website. Following those instructions you will select the 200mb plan. It will not ask for a cc there.
