I just registered in order to say thank you. I have a foot pedal thingee that I wanted to apply a modifier key to but couldn't get it to work. Thanks to you it now works beautifully.

But it runs terminal but shows on the screen and I can't exit the terminal as it ends that task and stops funtioning.

Any ideas

Thank you sooo much!

XnavxeMiyyep, really great job! Thank you soo much! This was exactly what I'm looking for and since I'm a programmer, I really appreciate the source as well.

I'm on Lion and it still works!

Thanks. Helps in a unique situation.

I also created an account here just so I could thank you. I have a friend who was born with one arm. I built a pedal board for him so he could have the 4 mac modifier keys available with his mouse strokes (kinda hard to hold modifiers while mousing with the same hand). This works fine but it is also next to impossible to reach number pad keys while holding modifier keys (an essential function to be a competitive audio engineer). Since the foot pedal was just a modified keyboard its functions couldn't be used in conjunction with the standard keyboard until this executable of yours. Your programming has made possible the undeterred technical progression of a very driven individual and given him the opportunity to be as fast or faster than engineers who have two hands. Thank you. I'll make sure he thanks you in his first Grammy speech :)

I'm actually using two keyboards for one Mac. One keyboard is on each arm rest, so I can optimally relax my arms. It's like the concept of a split keyboard, except it's wide enough for my chair and I don't have to type properly.

Neo.

Thank YOU!!!

Thanks so much! I signed up on this forum just to give my thanks!

I wrote this executable which will make modifier keys from multiple keyboards affect each other on the same machine.

Thankyou so very very much. I'm quite wide (in both directions ;)), currently facing issues with my shoulders and elbows typing all day on a single wired Apple keyboard. I like the idea of the Kinesis Freestyle, but I want to give a wide typing position a go before shelling out for it.

Running the app successfully on a Retina MBP with two Apple Bluetooth keyboards under 10.8.1. Noted it also works with two Apple wired keyboards, but then I start running out of desk real estate.

Will it allow me to program both sets of F keys?

Just wondering if I could reprogram F1 on one keyboard to do one thing and then something different on the other keyboard?

I'm in the same boat. Thanks so much for this very useful tool. Works on 10.8.4.

Your software sounds fantastic, but the link is currently down. Is there an updated link please?

Dual Keyboards Solution

http://dotdotcomorg.net/Mac/DualKeyboards.zip

I wrote this executable which will make modifier keys from multiple keyboards affect each other on the same machine.

Only tested in 10.5.5, but I don't see why it wouldn't work on other systems.

Now I have to get out of the habit I grew of using the same hand for modifiers. :D

Special thanks to: OS X Book.com and The Mac OS X Reference Library

EDIT: You must have assistive devices enabled in the Universal Access preference.

Hi.
I know it's seven years ago now but do you still have it? Could you reupload?
Much respect...

Thanks!
Also if anyone's interested [............] found solution in 'Karabiner' (previously KeyRemap4MacBook):https://pqrs.org/osx/karabiner/index.html.en which combines modifiers across multiple keyboards by default.
works a treat

p.s. also allows device specific key remapping

If you set it as a Login Item in your System Preferences, it should start automatically. Could you give me some details on what happens when it stops working?

This thread is a bit old, but I was wondering if you had since found a newer solution for the 2 keyboards setup?
