On a desk, on my lap, watching TV I'm still loving my 13" MBP. Haven't taken it to bed yet. It's probably too good looking for me to stand a chance with it!

i have a 15" and it feels comfy on my lap (im actually typing on my couch with it on my lap right now!) no complaints! :D

I've used a 17'' MBP extensively while watching TV and laying on the couch, and I don't find it to be too unwieldy. Sure, a 13'' laptop will always be nicer and more portable, but a the high-res screen on the 17'' gives you what is essentially a laptop with the power of a desktop computer with the same resolution as a 24'' monitor. The only thing you really can't do with the 17'' is use it comfortably on a tray table on a plane, especially if the person sitting in front of you is leaning back.

Another vote for the 17. I'd imagine a 17" with a anti-glare is probably the same weight as the 15" glossy due to the glass.

I personally haven't found the 17" more inconvenient after moving to it from a 15" for all these years. In fact I bought a smaller laptop case so I carry less other junk so I actually travel lighter.

The only disadvantage is what a previous poster said, it's a big big for an airplane, particularly if the person in front has their seat back. You have to keep your screen tilted a bit forward. It's no biggie when watching a movie but I wouldn't want to work on a spreadsheet in that position on a long flight.

I'm on a 13" MBP as well. It's a badass computer, and only 1 week old! I'm a first time Mac user, and am loving it! I didn't purchase it for movie watching, or any type of crazy media related things, but for the battery life in relation to school purposes. I have a 15.4" Dell XPS1530 that has a bluray player and the works for movies and what not. I've somewhat drifted away from the whole DVD thing, and have gotten to where I'll only watch Bluray for the most part. When Apple begins to integrate bluray players into their laptops, I'll definitely invest in a 15" at a much later time when I'm finished with school. I'm only lacking 1.5 years for my BA though, so that's not to bad.

Display size is a personal choice, I have all three for different reasons.

For use in your lap I highly suggest an Xpad.

It's one of the best products I've purchased. Thin, light, non-slip, it makes using your laptop more enjoyable. I am a very satisfied customer.

Cheers... :)

Thanks very much for the link, I just ordered an xpad.

What's your most used/favorite laptop of the three you own?

Great Question!

That's a tough one, they're all good in their own ways. I'd say the new 2010 15" Core i7 for it's speed & hi-res matte display. Also the new scrolling & accuracy of the trackpad. Sitting on the Low profile, light, simple, high quality Xpad air flows well all around the aluminum body which keeps it nice & cool.

What screen size would you buy?

I don't travel as much anymore so it's not an issue of size/weight in luggage, more so it will be used as an every day mobile notebook, rarely on a desk.

The 13, 15, 17" MBP's all have enough power to handle the work load, the MacBook Air doesn't but it's a nice computer for lighter tasks no doubt...

what if you "never" intended to use your mbp away from your desk, then 13 mbp

lol yeah i don't understand either. isn't the point of a mbp for portability. if your not gunna take it off your desktop then why not go for an imac being that you could get a stronger machine.

He may of forgot to put 17" between "your and mbp" your 17" mbp away from your desk...

(I think Tim has a 17" MBP from reading previous posts.)

Help us understand Tim :)

i do have a 17 i7 antiglare, may pick up a mba if it gets updated

entatlrg, you have a 15 and 13? which do you prefer

Right off the bat I'll say my 13" BUT I think the computer I should be using most often is the 15".

After all it's only 1lb heavier, 1.5" wider and has a very very nice screen that seems much larger than the 13" screen. You can have two windows open, higher resolution and with the 15" you don't as often have the desire/need to hook up to a larger display. With the 13" there is times when you find the screen a little small and you're more inclined to want to hook up to an external monitor for some tasks or work from two computers, the other having a larger screen.

The fact is the 15" MBP can do it all and I think the best advice I could give myself would be to use the 15" MBP exclusively for a month and then go back and try the 13", I think I'd go back to the 15" real fast.

Still, the computer I like the most, practicality aside is my 13" MBP. It's just a little smaller / lighter and it's the computer I enjoy using the most, easy to manage, grab and go, use on your lap, plane, train etc. With the 15" while loving the screen you notice the extra bulk, lol.

Does it sound like I'm on the fence with laptop computers at all times? I am. Rather than thinking I have OCD I'd rather think a 15" MacBook Air would solve the problem :D

I envy my wife in this area, she runs part of our company and has access to and used the MacBook Air, 13" MBP and the 15" MBP ... I gave her my old Air she loved it ... then I let her try my 15" MBP for a days. Right away she ordered one and hasn't looked back. She uses the 15" and an iPad and couldn't be happier.

Me, well like I said a 15" MacBook Air (with 4gb ram, 256ssd, glass trackpad, and 6 hour battery) would be the cure all for me and I think a lot of others as well.

yea. i have a 17 inch and when I went to a 15 I was trying to open up more windows and everything just felt small. I am looking to add a 13 just for portability. I dont think I could give up the 17.

I would wait until next week to decide just in case something new is announced at WWDC ... a new MacBook Air would make me rethink my computer set up I'm sure :)
