Just received and installed Utomic Edge for my X, first impressions, high quality and they look really good on my X (smaller, more minimalist then pictures on website). I chose black edge for my Silver phone. Installation was a breeze and the adhesive has to cure 24 hours, before putting phone in a pocket or (hopefully not) dropping it.

Excited that it provides protection, looks classy and I get to enjoy my X naked with it’s awesome design!

Can you post some pictures?

Also, can’t the phone still get scratched with everyday use by not necessarily drops such as wallet or keys in your pocket?

I think you are missing the point, I want to use my phone naked, but in the event I happen to drop it, I have protection, please see the drop videos on Utomic’s website or Utube.

Will it scratch in my pocket, I don’t know, it did not scratch before I put the edge guards on, so why would it scratch now?

I can’t put in pocket until adhesive cures for 24 hours, but the edges are smooth and minimalistic so I do not see any issues.

This is not a beast otterbox case, so please do not compare it to one. The Utomic edges provide drop protection, does it provide otterbox level protection? I don’t know and I doubt they do, but I don’t have a big honkin ugly case on it either. You should watch the Utomic videos as they are very impressive against a drop from a pocket. Would I use them in the mosh pit at a concert or playing tackle football? NO

They are a great product for those of us who what to enjoy the phone naked while also getting drop protection. The X looks so good freed from a case, also glad I got the silver, it looks amazing out of the previous black Apple leather case.

I would never put my phone in my pocket with anything else in it.

Does the adhesive go all the way where a glass screen protector would be?

Thanks! Does wireless charging still work given that there is a gap between back of phone and a solid surface?

Providing these stay on, they'd be a great option for the minimalist crowd.

I assume picking up the phone is a pleasure in it itself, thanks to the gap under all sides? You probably don't even notice it due to how seamless it is.

Good question.

I'd be surprised if it didn't - a fair gap's needed to prevent wireless charging from working.

If I got these, i'd most likely pair them up with a front & rear, case-friendly skin.

Does the OP have a screen on?

I asked them on FB and they said wireless charging works. I’m tempted to buy this as I’ve always hated cases. I have the Apple leather case now which I like, for a case....did you get the glass protector?

I just ordered it with the Glass. Thanks for sharing as I never knew these existed! Too bad I wasted $50 on a zagg screen protector which isn’t even aligned properly...

The adhesive only makes contact with the SS band

Good question, I don’t have a wireless charger yet, waiting for the Apple Air Pad, however I have seen some puck style chargers which certainly look like they would work

It is fantastic picking up and using the phone naked! Yes the edges provide a slight gap front and back so neither the screen or camera are making any flat surface contact.

I did not get the glass protector

I also bought the Apple Leather Case first and am now past the 14 days, so it is a back up if needed down the road or my wife might use it if her Product Red gets bad after a year, Apple will exchange upto a year if case gets nasty colored.

Do you think that it’s a bad idea to use this with a wrap around back Skin?

Utomic indicated that when you take them off, they leave no residue. Down the road if I do decide to take them off, the phone will go back into the Apple Leather case, so it really won’t matter. I believe the SS will be fine.

I like the concept of these, but $35 for 4 plastic nubs seems way over priced. Even their bumpers are cheaper!!! If they were even $20 I’d consider them.

15-25% off codes are out there, you just need to look. Utomic on FB is giving 15% code to anyone who requests one. I signed up on their site and they sent me a 25% off code, which I used to purchase the one on my phone.

You are discrediting the cost because of the small size, have you considered the tech which absorbs a drop or the adhesive which is strong enough to stay on when dropped but yet can be removed with no residue left behind?

BTW, Amazon has some knock offs for a very cheap price, I think maybe that is what you should buy. Hmmm, let me buy this expensive phone and cheap out on the edge guards which are meant to protect my phone.

No I do not work for Utomic, I am impressed with their product and a happy customer.

Check out the comments in the review on the link below. Multiple people reporting the bumps come up after a little while. So much for the strong adhesive.

Dude, there's a big difference in "cheaping out" and getting "RIPPED OFF". Just because its $35 for 4 bits of plastic you think automatically think its quality?? If so I got a $1,000 bag of rocks for sale I'm sure you'll love!!

Just got my order. Haven’t put the bumpers on yet but applied the front protector and other than a stubborn top bubble, it’s a pretty good fit. Much better than the Zagg and I love the black border which makes it more seamless.

I am waiting on my skin before applying the edges.

Let us know how it comes out!

I tried to install these on top of my skin and it did not go well. It pushes the corner skin up. I ended up taking them off as I’d rather have a skin with a screen protector with AppleCare. So far their customer service hasn’t impressed me as they have been slow to respond to my requests.

Sounds like you need a case-friendly screen protector then eh.
