I've owned Vaja & Piel Frama; both very nice, the latter made from Spanish leather. I decided I wanted something different this go-round and went with the CalypsoCase Book. I liked the color and after owning more than my share of orange cases, I thought I'd try a green one. Or, as their website calls it, "Sydney Morning":)

The last time I touched a Vaja was in the 4/4S days so this is purely based on memory. The Vaja leather is thicker, sturdier, rough to the touch compared to the Hermes which is thin, soft and smooth. Do note this is the Hermes leather and not the actual CalyposoCase though I think both will be identical or very similar. Vaja will probably be heavier than the Calypso too. We will only know for sure once I have the case in hand. Which I hope is within the week, though more realistically, 2 weeks.

Do you think the Calypsocase leather will be quite soft and luxurious?
This is what they told me when I emailed them regarding the leather type.
"embossing dyed leather with high gloss, shiny finish" is what they will be using for the case

Again, I have to say I don't have the case or have owned anything from Calypso before. But from their description, yes. It seems to be a to high quality and it looks soft.

I ended up ordering two of the CalypsoCabrio cases, will post pictures once I get them

FYI the Calypso DOES raise above the screen:

Lip from CalypsoCases comes above the iPhone screen surface. So you do not need to worry about scratching your screen while your iPhone is in the CalypsoCase.

In case of any other questions do not hesitate i am happy to help.

Best regards,
Manca

So far their customer service seems much better than Vaja -- who instead of trying to help me, just tried to convince me that the lip doesn't matter or help at all anyway.

Vaja's CS is spotty at best. And frankly, Apple's-branded leather covers are, IMHO, just as well made as Vaja's; and at almost 1/2 the price.

I like flip cases, whether folio-style, or OG Star-Trek-Communicator-Style. More protection but more importantly, I don't necessarily want to advertise the phone I'm using.

Anyone order their Calypsocase early and expectingnit soon? I'm anxious for a review!

I have a vaja "grip" order coming. Not that I don't like the apple leather case, just wanted something a bit thicker and custom. The pebble style leather really appeals to me on the vaja cases. Hoping the sites pictures are accurate. If not, I'll be truly bummed.

FYI after a lot of back and fourth with their (unhelpful) Customer Service -- they finally relinquished and cancelled my custom-ordered case as well. In addition they have now updated their product page on their website to reflect how their case truly looks… which as seen blow has no raised edges.

If you really wanted a case with the raised edges as they initially showed -- I urge you to return yours as well. If they put up a fight just dispute the charge and let them know. No reason to be bait and switched by them. They make lovely cases, but they obviously made a mistake with all of this.

Mine should be arriving in the next week. I noticed Calypso posted a new pic showing a back view of their Book-style case; nicely done! I wondered how it was configured.

It does indeed. I asked Manca, their CS person, how the covers were fabricated to stay closed (or open). Apparently, it's some type of spring mechanism.

That Manca is excellent CS. Always replies within 24 hours. Anyway I think we have hijacked this thread enough. Sorry TS!

how the front flap stay closed on the calypsocase book? it has magnets?

I am ready to order the vaja agenda (it comes with magnets)

Does anyone here have the Vaja Agenda on their iPhone 6/6+? Wondering if the lip size is any different or if it offers sufficient drop protection. Would love some pics. Thanks!

Do you guys think that I will be able to use the Calypso Cabrio case with a tempered glass screen protector on?

I bought the Top Flip for the wife and me, and looking at the design of the Agenda, it appears that they offer similar surface protection from drops. And she was the first to unfortunately test this :)

Yesterday she came home, and asked me to look at a sort of dent/scuff located on the front, top right corner of the case; basically, the kind of injury you'd expect to see from dropping the phone on it's top, right corner. She then explained that she was a bit careless and as she was getting ready to leave work, it whipped out of a shoulder bag onto the parking lot pavement. She said she almost had a heart attack!

The magnetic clamshell stayed closed, and the phone had zero damage or new rattles. And the leather case has a little more character :)

Glad it worked out for you, it seems odd how unhelpful they were, but that reminded me of a slight run in with them as well. Maybe that's one unconscience reason why I don't buy them anymore.

Sorry its taken me so long to respond Chrisxenofontos, their CS posted this picture on their web site. I would guess it's some type of snap-open/shut mechanism within the hinge.

I like the Vaja Agenda too. I looked at the Wallet Agenda but my concern were the cards on the inside cover rubbing up against the glass on the phone and causing scratches. This seems to be the design though for most of the wallet-style cases I've looked at.

Just received my Vaja Grip case for the iPhone 6

Pictures can be found here:

***Overall the case is very well made, as Vaja products always are. The case feels great in your hand, and maintains the overall form and slim feeling of the iPhone. The leather is soft and great quality as always. The case is very light so it doesn't add much weight at all.

***One difference is the case really doesn't wrap around the iPhone as much as previous versions, so it comes off much more easily. On the 5S version it was actually hard to put the case on and take it off, but with this it goes on and comes off extremely easily.

***The main NEGATIVE thing that I quickly noticed is the "face down" raised edges on the case (which keep the phones screen from hitting the table or ground) are not high enough to protect the iPhones screen. The edges are almost perfectly even with most of the screen (as seen in my pictures) -- the edges on the bottom of the case are slightly higher than the top, but both are almost even with the iPhone. I had the Vaja Grip for the iPhone 5S and the edges were raised well beyond the screen -- so that you didn't have to worry when placing the phone face down, or dropping it. In this case, the phone screen will be hitting whatever you set it on (not good).

I am pretty sure this issue is a design issue / defect, because if you look at the pictures on the Vaja website, you can clearly see the edges are raised higher in their pictures. As others have noted, the Grip iPhone 6 case appears more like the Grip LP "Low Profile" iPhone 6 case [noting the lower profile and lack of raised edges in the LP].

That's a really nice case. I'm planning on sticking with my amCase OctoArmor case, though. It was only $5 when I bought it (price check, still $5) and it's been really good for me so far. I've dropped it twice, and nothing has come of it. I'm pretty pleased with it; its like the Spigen case, but not nearly as expensive.

I want to order a custom agenda case (blue with navy interior) for my 6 Plus but just can't pull the trigger (it's expensive at $110 and I have other cases). Maybe I'll ask for it for Christmas!

so disappointed to hear the case comes off so easily and doesn't have more more raised edges. i was soooooooooooo ready to order this case. thanks for saving me the frustration and eventual disappointment.

My black grip with red interior came, and I couldn't be happier. Im a leather freak and just love leather on my electronics.

The black Vaja grip fits perfect and all of my "seams" on the interior are clean. The screen protection is minimal when layed faced down, but it does not let the screen touch, so there is a little.

I made the mistake of ordering a iPhone 6 case for my iPhone 6 plus (I wanted a nice brown), so when I noticed my mistake, they cancelled the order and reimbursed my credit card within a day.

So Im happy with them.

Im now waiting for my Vaja iPad Mini Libretto case in Durango and birch. Went with another color rather than black. Cant wait.
