Got mine in yesterday and I'll post some of my initial impressions. Overall it is an improvement from the Surface Pad, and I would hope so being more than twice the price. The first thing I noticed was the less amount of sticky material on the back panel. This is a good thing because it made it easier to apply to the phone with all edges sitting evenly. On the Surface Pad I had to take it off and reapply it multiple times to get a uniform view of the chamfered edge of the iPhone, meanwhile on the Vaja case I nailed it on the first time. A plus for the OCD.
The leather is is noticeably thicker than the one of the Surface Pad, and the texture on the leather will hold up better than the Surface Pad which I noticed lost its luster after a few weeks. The fact that the Vaja case has less material attaching the front panel to the back panel made it easier for me to locate the volume controls without the indentations as found on the Surface Pad. The larger range of colors to choose from was nice as well. I had a hard time choosing between the forest green, dark tan, and dark navy blue over the three offered on the Surface Pad which is a good spot to be in. Also in my experience despite the Surface pad having thinner leather then the Nuova Pelle and being hinged in the middle of the back and not the side I found it easer to use my iPhone with the Vaja case when the flap was flipped to the back of the phone than the Surface Pad.
But all isn't perfect as the magnetic closure system is hardly noticeable. It doesn't snap close as it does in the preview movie on their site. In fact it will open when turned upside down and sometimes doesn't close at all if the front flap doesn't land flat on the front of the phone. Lastly the interior material is another hard leather which doesn't keep the screen clean of fingerprints that the microfiber material in the Surface Pad does. This was actually a big plus the Surface Pad had going for it.
Which am I using? The Vaja case, but because I prefer form over function, and I still highly recommend both cases for different reasons. If you want a folio case to double as a stand, keep the screen clean while in your pocket, and be very cost effective in terms of leather cases then I would recommend the Surface Pad. If you want a folio case that has remarkable build quality, compliments the design of the iPhone with a well designed exterior, and with more ease of use then I would recommend the Vaja Nuova Pelle.
Also if anyone who has this case and experience a strong magnetic closing system let me know. I want to believe that this one is defective as it would be a great feature if it worked.
Question would this work with a glas tr? Also when u put it in ur pocket does the flap stay closed still ? And last can u please do a short youtube video of this
While I don't have a Glas Tr installed on my phone I would tend to think that it won't properly fit with this case. The hinge doesn't seem to give enough flexibility to incorporate the added thickness. Perhaps over time the leather will stretch to accommodate it, but you would have to live with it not closing for a while as it does.
1.Where is the magnet? Does it connect to the phone?
2. And how does the phone stick to the leather ?
3.Also what color they use in the promotion video?
4. Can you remove the phone and use it again?
Thanks
1. The magnet is on both the front and back flap that attract to each other through the phone.
2. Strong adhesive that does not leave a residue. See 4.
3. Mentioned in an above post.
4. Can be remove and reattached without residue.
Can any of you new owners comment about the quality of the leather vs the surface pad? Also, approximately how long was shipping?
Shipped amazingly fast from GA, but of course I live in FL and it was FedEx ground so less than 48 hours from the time of ordering.
I apologize for the photos. The typical my iPad is my only other camera excuse.
