First-person shooters are terrible with gamepads. Anyway, L4D2 runs ultra-smooth with all settings maxed on my Mac Pro, so I would expect L4D1 will be the same.

I keep hearing that 10.6.5 will do that... what's the word on the street on it being better? Is there a bug in Snow Leopard .4 right now that's slowing things down? Are Dev builds of .5 much faster right now? Are we just guessing that Apple is going to try to make gaming faster in the next release? Has Valve said something?
We keep hearing that huge improvements will come with 'the next update' (G5 PowerBook next Tuesday?) Unfortunately you can only do so much to optimise when you have low-end to low mid-range GPU's at your disposal, especially when you are driving high resolution displays such as those in the iMac. Parity with Windows would be nice, Apple not breaking things with updates would be even nicer.
I missed out on the $4.99 special for L4D2 so I'm happy I can purchase both for $15 which isn't bad. I loved the first one so it's a must.
Nice. I logged in and found out DoD:Source I bought for Windows almost 2 years ago is still there and it's on the Mac too.
I just downloaded L4D1 in 20 minutes and started playing *bless broadband* and it's pretty smooth if I put it down to like 1366x1000 or whatever it was. Lags like a banshee at 2560x1600 though because my 2600xt sucks
Hey, get on everyone! There was only about 5 games going on when I logged on. Hope it isn't like that otherwise I just wasted $15USD.
I can't see a Left for Dead 1 & 2 bundle on the steam store only the individual titles... has anyone got a link to the bundle?

Only problem is, with L4D2, I can't run the game on high graphics :/ I could on BootCamp, but not Mac OS X...
Hopefully this'll be fixed with 10.6.5!

Left4Dead 1 is, IMO, better than the sequel. The atmosphere is a lot more tense and it's the whole game just feels better and more precisely made.

Get L4D1 for the story and new scenery. You will like the characters too. L4D2 just adds new specials and sunlight. The games are close enough that L4D1 could be thought of as an expansion pack.
Don't you mean L4D2 is the expansion?
Anyway, I love the original and it's so much fun to play with the old gang again. Is the new maps and true expansions included in the price or do Mac owners have to pay for add ons like the one where the new meets the old (Sacrifice?) ?
I'm downloading 2 right now but have been ejjoying 1 for a while now.
Oh, does anyone know if the PC maps will be made available for the Macs or are we SOL on that front?
