No friend, I was. I've been with these gents since Mags were scoped in CS and the glory days of de_jeepathon2k.

I was there when the Friends list was a "suggestion" that never logged on.

And yet, I still stand by my statement. :D

de_dust 24/7 servers ftw

I remember playing cs when sierra was the developer.

Great news!! I'm glad I picked up the LFD1/LFD2 combo pack for $10 when it was on sale a few weeks back. I thought it might take forever for LFD1 to be out for Mac. :)

Does anybody know if it is possible to use a Xbox 360 controller on a mac? I know you can do it on PC.

Yes you can, all you need to do is use the older wired 360 controller and locate the 360 controller drivers and your good to go.

First-person shooters are terrible with gamepads. Anyway, L4D2 runs ultra-smooth with all settings maxed on my Mac Pro, so I would expect L4D1 will be the same.

That would depend on the person playing and their preference, I have proved time and time again that i am just as good and accurate using a controller as someone on a keyboard and mouse ( and i can bet there are others out in the world that are like me). again it just depends on the persons preference and how good they are at what they use.

to say one is better then the other is down right ignorant but i guess ignorance is bliss right ?

I think the Mac App Store is going to work pretty well for stuff like this. I never buy games for the mac, I have a PS3 and XBox360. But with these prices I was considering it. Then I thought it would be to much hassle. But when I can do a one click (spontaneous) purchase via the Mac App Store, I will probably start buying stuff like this.

Didn't know it was playable. I take my statement back except when I need to use the controller in something like Grand Theft Auto I am terrible compared to the PC.

Very cool. I just wish I could do somehthing about the motion sickness I get when playing valve games. Portal is tollerable, but I just can't play half life for more than 30 minutes without feeling terrible.

im trying to download but steam servers are too busy, is this normal ?

Busy server seem to be the rule when a popular new game comes out. I waited until the day after the Portal announcement to download it.

Wooooo. Got to work, zoned out for about an hour, checked macrumors on my iPhone (because stupid work decided it was time to block the site after being able to view it before.......but I digress), and saw the news.

L4D AND L4D2 for $15!!

Now before I get to 100% excitement, just at about 75%, how will 9400M card handle this? I'm not very tech savvy, so I'm not sure if it's better or inferior than a 8400M, which I'm reading is the minimum to be playable.

I can run Portal and TF2 just fine, for what it's worth.

Oh and for the nostalgic CS talk, I was all about cs_italy.

Surprisingly good graphics...

Hey, this game surprisingly looks good even on my 2600XT. If I max out the graphics it looks fantastic but I'm not able to get decent frame rate; however, compared to what the Xbox360 was putting out, it's just no comparison. Mind you I enjoyed my time with it on the console immensely but seeing the graphics and in faithful reproduction of HD, it's just incredibly beautiful. Makes me wish Valve had released this on the Mac/Pc simultaneously with the console. Hopefully that will be the case with future releases so yeah..

Yesterday I struggled to play games on a Mac. Bootcamp was released and I played CS on a Macbook. Now I load up L4D natively on an iMac. Time fixes everything.

Whoa, that's awesome! It seems that with such releases my Windows PC becames more and more useless day by day...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8B117)

Hah! I screwed up and bought LFD1 and LGD2 on sale together when only LFD2 for had come out for the Mac. The price? $10.

Now I own them both! Nyahhhh!

Thank god I only paid $15 for both copies. I remember why I stopped playing it on the Xbox. It gets repetitive after a while.

on my macbook pro (mid 2010) core i5 GT 330m, i can play L4D2 with all settings maxed out including res, except AA@2x and shaders@medium. get a smooth steady 30fps which, in all honestly, you cant even feel any lag. no drops or anything.

very playable and performance is great

on l4d1 i expect it to be around (or at least close to) 60 with everything maxed out, or with same settings as above.

Good. But 30fps still seems relative. I can get 8X AA and everything high and have 60fps on my Readon 5770. And, i don't know how well Left 4 Dead performs under Mac OS X. I know, Call of Duty 4 can't compare with COD 4 under Windows. Sucks to be me, i only have early 2008 Macbook which can't play any game.... sad

If only they were available on something like Steam.

Wait a minute...

Now 9400M is a integrated graphic card. So you really don't want play Left 4 Dead or any other graphic demanded game on this. Unless you don't mind about horrifying graphic quality and very low fps and the lag, then i would say go for it. You should spent 500$ for a mid-end PC for gaming, game experiences will be lot nicer.

You need Steam to playing this game anyway, so it is pointless to put on App Store, you might as well buy it off from Stream.

L4D isnt even that great of a game. Anyone who has a Xbox has already played both of them anyways. TF2 is the only mac game on steam imo.
